Hungry baby??

As you all probably know lol Patrick is now on formula. On the first day he was taking 3oz every 2-3hours on the second day he was taking 2oz every 2-3hours and last night i gave him 4oz and he was still hungry so i made another oz and he drank its, now he seems to be sometimes taking 3oz sometimes taking 4oz and sometimes he still seems a bit hungry after 4oz...what should i do? should i just always make 4oz and see how much he takes or should i try him with 5oz? i know its an oz more than recommended but i cant leave him hungry.

if he wants more he wants it for a reason honey. i was really worried that fin was eating too much at about this age but my midwife just said if he's draining it, he's needing it so put in an extra ounce. remember, you can't tell how much he's drinking on the boob and some drink every 20 mins on the titty. worry ye not. xx

I was worried about over-feeding Olivia, but both my mw & hv said you can't overfeed a baby. If they need it, it's because they are hungry......and if they eat too much, they will bring it back up. Some days, Olivia will barely take 3oz at each feed, other days she can take 5oz happily. Now, we make up 5oz, and let her have what she needs/wants.
The amounts they say on the formula cartons is only a guide.....each baby is different, so if your LO seems to want 5oz, go with it.

Thanx ladies, feel much better now. think i will do that (give 5 oz and let him have what he wants) coz this evening he had 3oz then nodded off for a bit and woke and had another 3 oz....hope this aint gonna carry on though coz it means hes only going 1.5hours between feeds!! will try and get him to take all he needs in one go!! my friend messaged me and said her baby was taking 8oz every 2-4hours from 3days!!!!! thats one ungry baby!

He's also at just about the right age for a growth spurt! I'd go with 5 ounces and see how that works out for you
