Hi ladies

Haven't been on here for months - I hope everyone is ok :flower:

I had failed fresh NHS funded ICSI cycle in Feb 2010 which I found dificult to come to terms with and then recently had failed FET the beginning of the month, no frosties left :nope: so moving onto self funded ICSI in September. Had ICSI due to DH anti sperm anti bodies.

Anyways I'm very confused - at our follow up consultation with Care this week we were advised I may have a hydrosalpinx in one tube, they spotted fluid build up in one tube during my fresh cycle and looked for this during my FET but it was not present

When I had my lap and dye in Jan 2009 I was told one of my tubes was dilated, had some fuild in but open, they did not once tell me this could cause any problems - I now feel cross and let down by this.

Care have explained if this is a hydrosalpinx the fuild can leak into the uterus and prevent implantation, however they are letting us go ahead with a fresh cycle and will monitor the tube, if they notice any build up of fuild again at pre treatment scan they are going to suggest I have the tube removed before continuing with treatment.

So my questions are - has anyone had experience of this during IVF treatment? If so were you referred back to NHS to have tube removed? How long did you have to wait? And how long after tube removal were you about to start IVF again?

Many thanks x

Hey hun,

First of all sorry for what you have been through - it is so unfair and upsetting.

I am not going to be as much help as you need, but I can assist some.

Originally my hsg showed a hydrosalpinx tube - the fs refused to do ivf without removing the tube/s first - so I had a lap to remove 1 or both of my tubes before doing ivf as success is very minimal with a hydrosalpinx tube (I did a ton of my own research on this too). When I had my lap surgery the surgeon said that I didn't have it and that the tube was open and left the tube. I am now in the ivf process and am afraid about my tube too (was it/wasn't it a hydro tube - and should they have removed it?). From my understanding if it is a hydrosalpinx tube, then it needs to be removed, as the flulid will kill an embryo. I really hope that my cycle works, but if it doesn't I will be wondering about my tube.

I wish you the best luck, keep us posted.

I've got one also and from what I can find it does sometimes leak and can kill the embryo, the fs has told me to have IVF with it however, mine causes me a hell of a lot of pain and I'm going to see my GP next week to ask them to take it out x

Thank you for your replies, I don't think they will suggest to remove the tube unless it show's up again on pre treatment scan, but I agree Blue I'm wondering if has caused the last two treatment cycles to fail as everything was looking good - we had really good quality embyo's. Starting fresh ICSI cycle in September, I hope we don't have to pay all this money only for it to fail again because of this!

Katie - do you get pain at certian times during your cycle? I've always suffered from really bad periods and sharp split second pains at random times during my cycle, I'm wondering if this cause's it?

Wishing you both all the best x

I have the exact same sharp pain thing too Monty! No one has given explaination for it - but reading about hydrosalpinx I thought - yes that is why - then the lap surgeon said I don't have hydro tubes. Then I thought it must be my endo - but that isn't typical symptoms.

I really really really hope from the bottom of my heart that you are successful in getting your miracle this time. :hugs:

Yes, the pain is always at the beginning of my cycle I can't even explain what it feels like but it lasts about an hour, it's always on the left where my hydro should be and it makes me feel naseous *spelling, sick and stops me using my left leg properly when walking. It gets so bad I actually sit still and cry (the worst it's been is where I sat in the toilets at work over the toilet bown not knowing whether I was going to be sick, pee or the other) I just want the thing out, it's doing me no favours and in effect is useless xx

Thanks Blue - wishing you all the best for your FET x

Ooh Katie that's sounds awful, bless you - I hope you don't have to wait too long x

Katie and Monty- I see that you are both are pregnant expecting. I was just diagnosed with bilateral hydros on Jan 20th and was wondering what you ended up doing to achieve your bfps! I am devastated and am wondering what to do next.:flower:

Hi Ladies

I would love to hear from anyone who is willing to share their experience, but especially from ladies who live in the UK as I would like to know more about the IVF on NHS.

I had a Hycosy in July and last week (12/09/2013) had the follow up appointment at the Gynae dept at the hospital, I was told I had Hydrosalpinx in both fallopian tubes. I have cried non-stop for 3 days, i cry even in my sleep because I wake up with wet cheeks. My condition was caused by the Chlamydia infection I had 5 years ago. I had it for 12 months at most before I found out and was given antibiotics. I was told by the consultant at the Gynae department that although the infection was treated the bacteria can cause damage which is not really detected until you try for a baby which is where I am.

I am eligible for 2 IVF cycles on the NHS but they need to remove both my tubes first. I feel hopeless as it is already, I know the tubes are off now use to me anymore but I'm silly enough to think that maybe one day I can conceive naturally if I still keep them, I know full well the chances of that is between nil and zero, but I still keep kidding myself.

I am worried, I've tested negative for chlamydia since 2008 after I got treated, can I still be carrying the bacteria? What does 2 cycle of IVF mean? If the first cycle fails, do I have to go through the whole process again i.e drugs, egg/sperm retrieving or do they use frozen embryo's (if any) and count that as cycle 2?

I am really worried the 2 cycles will fail. And the tubes would have been taken out making it so final that IVF is the only option.
