FTM here, I have a horrible cold/flu with lots of mucous, vomiting, sore throat and I have to take care of LO by myself until DH gets home from work ( yes, its hard and my first time ill with a wee one!)
I feel like utter crap and I am worried that LO will get it, what do I need if she gets sick? Obviously a humidifier but I cant give her "cold meds" etc.
How do I know if she has the sore throat? At what point would I contact her doctor?
How did you deal with taking care of LO while sick and what helped them when they got sick?
LO is 6 months, I have NO support system other than DH who has to work.

It is scary worrying about LO getting ill! If she gets it though at least you've got it so you know how she'll feel (there's got to be some silver lining to being ill huh!). My LO's have been poorly on and off all winter- colds, viruses, sick bugs, hand foot and mouth- plague house! I'm not sure what medicines you have there but when mine are ill Calpol (paracetamol suspension, suitable from 2 months) is my best friend. That and childrens Olbas Oil in a bowl of hot water (for snuffly noses), infant chest rub, warm milk or Ribena (DS's doctor told me to give him this when he has a sore throat and cough as it coats the throat and helps to stop his throat getting raw and making him sick). Other than that lots of cuddles and probably extra sleep and she'll get through it :husg:.
Hope you feel better soon, it is no fun feeling wretched and having to look after a baby.

Are you nursing? Because when we get sick our milk naturally produces antibodies in the milk to help keep baby from getting ill......so you'll have nothing to worry about from you....your milk will protect your baby! Nice huh!?!? Hahah.

Opposite way around here. Rio got ill first and I caught it from him. So hard being poorly and looking after a poorly unsettled baby. I am struggling.
Rio is on eye drops for conjunctivitis, saline nasal drops to unblock him, lots of snuffle babe and olbas oil, I've been offering warm black currant that seems to soothe a little but he's not very good with liquids that aren't thickened. I do have some tixylix cough medicine that can be used from 3 months that I think I'm going to start today as he is just getting worse :(
I knew rio had a site throat when he kept making a fake cough sound like he was trying to clear his throat. Then other symptoms started coming fast. Streaming nose, red sticky eyes, rough cough, inconsolable crying, high temperature, wanting to sleep a lot more.
Hope you are better soon and your LO doesn't get ill xx
