I feel like the worst mom ever!

wow America is really odd with how they handle things, can you not just go to a doctor and get them to send you a bill and then once you have insurance send the bill to them so they can pay it?

If i was you i would not care about cost i would be getting checkups and just be in debt for awhile, its only medical debt it will not stop you from buying a house or anything.

you could just go to the er and say you need a scan they will give it to you they cant turn you down i am sure there is some law

xx

Off topic, but there are pros and con's to both counties medical care issues. like I would not be able to deal with being told which MW I was going to see. I much prefer paying to be able to choose one who will take care of me and I feel happy with.

My cousin called a state representative and had medicaid the next day. I would try this if you still haven't found any help.

yes, I know they can't but they will also, as you said, send me bills that I wont be able to pay and my credit will be horrible. That'll screw me over in the long run.

im in your same situation, i feel horrible becasue i havent been able to get any medical care yet im 20 weeks, all because of stupid medicaid! and it takes forever to get an appointment with a OB/Gyn, and noone takes medicaid anymore! so i fel your frustration!

I know!! I've looked up free/low income clinics and they are all for illegals!! I've only found spanish only clinics like WTF!! And did you know that even doctors that accept medicaid have a choice whether or not they want to see you?? They can turn you down because they don't want to deal with medicaid. HOW FREAKING RIDICULOUS!!

Wow. Thats BS.

Anyways, I believe planned parenthood offers OB/GYN service, I know my wife went to them a few times while we were still dating before she got on my health insurance...you might want to check into that.

Thats like not having car insurance, wrecking your car, then getting car insurance and sending them the bill for the wrecked car. Doesn't exactly work that way.

It can work that way if you are in the process of applying for medicaid because when you are pregnant you are automatically eligible if you are in a certain income bracket. And as far as I know in CT planned parenthood doesnt have a clue about pregnancy =/ not sure about TX

Actually, you can have them send you the bill, and then you send it to your insurance once you're approved. I was having trouble with my insurance taking too long, and I ended up calling the hospital and speaking to a Medicaid representative and someone else who works at the hospital and they both told me to do this.

Hey,
Thanks to everyone for the advice. To the girls who commented on my credit score thing:
I understand totally. I do. OH and I were trying to get a house seeing how my whole family is doing drugs (hardcore too not just pot) and I don't want my baby around them ever. So I was trying not to get my credit score jacked up.

I did go to the ER and they didn't do much but hook me up to a doppler machine and watch me for an hour.
=(

Anyone in the military?? OH and I are getting married soon and as soon as we do he is signing his paperwork and going to basic (Navy). How long after that do I get his benifits because if it's too long I'm going to HAVE to fuck up my credit score because I am NOT doing the Medicaid bullshit anymore.

and for everyone around me telling me that there are free clinics in texas, yes I know that. But. Not. In. My. Area. They were all spanish speaking only. That's why I was so ticked. I'm in harris county. and you would think with a city as big as houston 30 min away they would have more but no they don't.

Medicaid doesn't hurt credit as far as I know. I know I was on it in college for a few years (until I was 21) and I have very good credit.

As far as finding a clinic, you could try calling around and asking if they have sliding scale fees.

I don't have medicaid anymore. they told me I wasn't pregnant. That's why I haven't been able to get any prenatal care. I was talking about going into an ob/gyn and just trying to pay out of pocket-ish.

Hang in there hun. I've had a similar experience. I got pregnant while living with OH's mother and boyfriend, and she decided to kick me out. I had moved there across state from my family to be with OH until he graduated college then we were going to go from there. I was about 18 weeks pregnant when she kicked us out, then had to move here and apply for insurance here. It took them like 3 months to get me my insurance and insurance card. I had not had any care until about two weeks ago. It does NOT make you a bad mom. :hugs: The United States is so messed up. It is not your fault, or anybodies fault but the governments fault. They don't care about people, people who REALLY truly need help, and they help people who cheat the system and have no real ailments. I was afraid that I wouldn't get insurance until my baby was even born, but luckily everything was fine. Baby is just fine, heartbeat is perfect, he is growing perfectly and has no issues. I'm sure that everything is just fine, and I pray that everything works out for you. I know things are super tough, I'm going through tough times too. We just have to hang in there as best we can for our LOs. They love us so much, no matter what happens.

hey hun, Im active duty military (coast guard) and as soon as you marry, OH signs the paperwork for the navy (I recommend marriage before as it keeps the hiccups down) you are covered. BUT! you have to go to an approved doctor.

humana-military.com is where you want to look for the answers to your military insurance questions.

I know when I was pregnant with my daughter (prior to marrying her father) tennessee had a program called Blue Care for unwed expectant mothers. Texas should have a similar program. I wish you the best of luck!

oh, dont hesitate to contact me if you need anything hun. Im on aol IM livinontwo or you can facebook me (we are due date buddies it seems :)) [email protected]

Oh no! That's not why we are getting married! I'm sorry if I made it seem that way. We've been planning on getting married since before we found out I was pregnant we are just rushing it along now so that I don't have to deal with medicaid.
I'm sorry for sounding like a heartless bitch.

I just got my medicaid a few weeks ago, mine only took a month but that was because I hurried the process along by privately paying a doctor $300 for a visit and ultrasound so I could get a paper with my EDD..this was basically all they needed from me, I could have done it through their clinics but they wanted me to wait a month to see a nurse and then a month to see a dr after that, it was nuts. Then when I got approved, I had to wait almost another month for my plan to kick in and I couldn't find any dr. that would take me with straight medicaid - you're right, they don't want to deal with it. It's nuts what they're doing to you and hon I know you said you don't want to be sent any bills if you are seen at a hospital, but keep in mind that when you DO get it straightened out, medicaid will pay any medical bills up to 3 months previous to getting approved..so, it should be covered. Good luck!
