I've decided I need a new hobby to keep me entertained until my next F.S appointment in 3 weeks because I'm on the verge of becoming obsessed lol

At the minute I go to the gym 3 times a week, walk my pooch most days and work work work.

I'm finding it difficult to fill my evenings and in this last week, I've spent hours on the internet googling and researching and I'm going to get square eyes! :comp:

I'm off work sick today :sick:and want to get myself something to do. I love reading and so am going to order a few books. I'm not a big fan of TV and I'm not that into DVD's.

Any suggestions? How you ladies keep yourselves entertained?

Anything that doesn't include housework!!:iron:

Hey
I find that getting in the kitchen and making really good meals helps me a lot. Maybe it is that there is an instant result for my efforts.
I just ordered a recipe book that is geared toward fertility too!

Meditation is helping me to at least imagine myself as a Mamma.

And I know you don't like tv, but watching comedy shows really helps me because I think laughter is so important to my whole being.
Since you like to read maybe finding some funny books will help you out?

Putting on my favorite music helps to lift me out of funky spaces around this and remind me of life outside my ttc world.

Maybe these aren't hobbies exactly, but these things help me stay lifted and enjoy our home and keep up the hope that we're going to have our little one join us in it very soon!

Hope this helps! xoxoxo :flower:

What about training for something in the future - such as a 5k run? If you don't fancy that, what about enrolling on a part-time college course in something obscure, like flower arranging, or a craft class or something? Failing that, Fringe is a brilliant series on Sky1 on Thursday nights ...

I found that there was absolutely no point in trying to distract my thoughts away from my upcoming IVF cycle as it was not going to happen.

So I decided to do things that were related to it. I've started a scrap book which will document our journey, I put everything in it, from my own thoughts - to images, photos of us (dh and I) aswell as important milestones, dates and so forth. It will be a great tool to reflect on, and it's surprisingly quite time consuming!

They all sound like great ideas. I am also finding it hard to distract myself from this whole ttc journey...it consumes me. I take it a day at a time and I wish I could find something to do to take my mind off it. My motivation is low these days and I am losing interest in doing things. I go to work, and on days off I seem to do alot of resting and googling :). DH is great but he is also finding it difficult. Today AF arrived and DH doesn't know yet...he is due home soon and I know he is going to be shattered. We will now be starting IVF also. So keep up with all the suggestions as I will also be interested. I might even take up Ney Neys idea.

Hi everyone! I'm usually in the TTC boards but thought I would poke around and have a lookie in here.

As far as hobbies or something to keep you occuppied for a while: what about getting your Halloween or Christmas stuff done? I suggest that because in my family - even though all of us kids have been married off - we draw a name and then we make a present for that person. I might make a stained glass address marker for my dad... He loves garden art!

You could learn an instrument - lots of free lessons online.
Plan a landscaping project for fall or spring
Make a pet costume for halloween - a lot of patterns are available online..I might make my dog a Superman costume.

That's all I've got...I really like the scrapbook idea that was suggested.

Good luck on your upcoming appointment.

I feel exactly the same. I went on my lunch break a few days ago and spent £40 on a whim on books to learn basic Spanish. I've also been buying box sets of DVDs for TV shows that I've never had the chance to watch (just getting into House Season 1). When all else fails, baking & gardening always takes my mind off things for a while.

Thanks for all the suggestions. So far I've bought a few books, signed myself and my pooch up for dog obedience classes (I'm really looking forward to that) and I'm off to google some box sets.

I have decided to obsess over Michael Jackson. I watch his video's, you tube stuff, dance to his songs...workout listening to him. It's quite sad really, but it is entertaining, mind numbing escapism that I need right now. I have an appointment late next month.

Just lately we've made a few big purchases to try and keep our minds off it. We bought a Wii Fit, which I have to say is pretty great, good fun, and helps keep us more active

We bought a fishtank and spent weeks filling it with fancy fish and plants and decorations and all kinds of stuff, and it looks pretty cool now:haha:

We've bought tonnes of baking stuff and learned loads of new recipes, and enjoyed cookies, cakes and pancakes from it:cake:

I dusted off my sewing machine and made myself some nice new bags and things

We spent quite a bit of time decorating the house. I'm learning more languages too

I'm going to nick some of the ideas from here now though. Scrapbook eh!? I must get right on it and let it consume me for as long as possible!
