Hi,

So... we've settled on Harry for a boy, (both our granddads we're Harry's) but the OH wants Crystal for a girl. He's big on spiritualism, so I can understand where it came from, but I honestly hate it. (I have images in my head of shouting her downstairs when tea's ready or something, n I cant stop cringing....) OH wont budge and I dunno what to do... I can see it being shortened to "Chris" by his family, and I'm certainly not a snob, but I just think it sound a bit (cant find the right word, its just not girly i think).... (hope im not offending anyone) I'm just freaking out a little...

I like ...

Anna
Lily
Elizabeth
Jessica

What do u think I should do? Will i grow to love it, or am i stuck with it...

*I'm not even preggers yet, and already freakin out*

:nope:

I keep telling him that, but he said seen as he doesnt get to do anythin during the nine months (ie he's not carryin it) he should be allowed to name it.

He's a stubborn man.

I dont mind it so much as a middle name, cos they dont tend to get shortened, but its a complete VITO for me as a first name...

if you don't like it then don't use it, it has to be something you both like as you both have to call her by it for the rest of her life.

as for the you carry her so he names her thing, i always thought that it was the other way around, you did all the hard work so you should get final say in naming (within reason) as a reward : )

Thats what I said (but I used the possibility of pooing whilst giving birth thing as leverage, more on his level) lol

he'll come around I'm sure, we've got LOADS of time yet....

My boyfriend is stubborn too. He comes to me with some names and it is SO hard to not get a horrified look on my face... You BOTH made this baby and are BOTH entitled to have a say on the matter. Bottom line.

Maybe you could do some research and come up with some other spiritual meaning names that may appeal to him? I do agree though that you shouldnt be told thats her name and thats it :growlmad:, thats very wrong. I bet by the time you are pregnant/gets near to baby's arrival you will be discussing a whole multitude of other names. Lots of us on here have changed baby's names several times whilst pregnant . xx

If you don't like it don't settle. Is it the fact that it is a precious stone that he likes? Could you use another?

Amber, Coral, Ruby, Amethyst, Jade etc?

I agree with mumof5. Also, (and I hope I don't offend anyone) but Chrystal reminds me of a stripper name, just because that was the stage name of the girl that did a friends stag night. I'm sure that there are lots of lovely girls out there called Chrystal.
