AF got me this morning :( I just don't get it. This was month 25! I think there may be something wrong with my husband's sperm. I do have PCOS, but I have perfect cycles. I get positive ovulation tests and ewcm every month. Well, technically last time I went to the doctor there were no cysts and my bloodwork was fine- so I guess the PCOS is getting better. Anywho- we have sex on cd 7 9 11 13 14 15 17- at least, with a positive ovulation test on cd 13 or 14. We have been doing this every single month and no pregnancy :( My doctor refuses to help us- I am completely lost.

I was diagnosed with pcos in October 2009. we had been ttc since September 2007. it took me three different Gyno's to get that diagnosis. I went from weighing 180 lbs in Sept 07 to weighing 275 or so by July 09. Yikes! I know. Now I am down to 223.5 or so. Not a huge weight loss, but they say 10% loss will help in the ttc realm. That hasn't been the case thus far. I went from having periods every 90 days after our wedding, to finally getting them every month. They don't show up the same time every month mind you, but close enough. I am sick of OPK testing, Pregnancy testing, and bloodwork. It seems like I never get the result I want anyway, so whats the point. My Insulin level was 46.2 in 10/09 and 23.3 5/2010 and 41.3 in 1/2011 and now its 25.0 which is good. I apologize for rambling on, hope all goes well for you, and lots of baby dust.

I understand. My doctor told me to lose weight. I lost 30 pounds in between appointments and she did not say anything about it. I was so discouraged. I still get regular periods.

Hey ladies
I am curious to know how many of you have pcos, and if you were told you were just fat, if that applies to any of you. I went to an OB in 2007 after I skipped a few periods. I thought that something was up, since AF hadn't shown in a few months, and I was feeling funny. That OB told me I was IR, (i had no idea what that was) she told me that it takes 8 -12mos to get pregnant, and that I should just continue trying. Take glucophage and wait and see what happens. From the time I remember my periods were hit and miss. I seemed to have a 35 or so cycle legnth, but it became a 90 day cycle after my wedding in 2007. This OB saw me four times, and didnt ever perform my pap smear. she said that our insurance wouldn't pay for it, since I had a pre existing condition. which wasn't the case. So after much frustration with her, i changed OB's
This doctor was a male, which I wasn't crazy about, but hey, you gotta do what ya gotta do. He presribed clomid in 2008, and said I ovulated. But i didn't concieve that cycle. so we just tried again, still no BFP. after months of ttc, and ultrasounds, bloodwork, and all, he looked at me and said, "take yourself by the hand, drag yourself down to weight watchers and lose weight" Yeah, that's what he said...... I thought okay, seeya... I was having pelvic pain at this time too, and he proceeded to tell me i wasn't having pelvic pain, and that it was most likely due to bowels! (that was the first time i said I had pain) this pain was like a knife being jammed up my who haa. if ya know what I mean... after seeing my GI doc, and finding there was nothing wrong with my GI system, i went back to my OB. He told me " the pain is from a thick uterin lining" you don't have regular periods, and therefor the lining of your uterus is thickeneing. He sent me home with provera, and birth control pills. Needless to say I changed doctors in Oct 2009 and my first visit to this OB was amazing. I had these symptoms while seeing the other two OB's
weightgain (trouble losing weight)
skin tags
high blood pressure
high tryglicerides
irregular or absent periods
infertility
depression
dark skin between breasts and back of neck since I hit puberty
excess body hair
cyst on ovaries (found by ultrasound in Nov 2009)
thinning hair
dandruff/ dry scalp
insulin resistance

and the day i went to see my current OBGYN I walked out of her office knowing that i had pcos, and it was confirmed a short time later by ultrasound and blood work
keep in mind, my mother, sisters, aunts, and grandmother do/did not have this condition. I am the first female in my family to be diagnosed
as for all the pcos and ttc ladies out there, keep your head up.
and do lots of research on pcos. There are support groups onlin, websites with information and tons of learning materiaL. Family members will benefit from this to, they are unaware of what pcos is, and they don't understand how it can effect us the way it does

Yea, I am told just to lose weight and it will happen. However, I have a friend that has PCOS but she weighs 115 pounds- they gave her Clomid right away, said hat PCOS is what is preventing her from getting pregnant. They will not give it to me- just because I am fat.

Oh and to contribute to your "bowels" diagnosis. When I found out I had PCOS- I had been bleeding for over 6 months- constant bleeding with clots. I was young and did not know something was really wrong. Well I went to the ER one night because I had a cyst to burst (did not know at the time). The ob in the ER that night examined me and let a student nurse do a catheter, to make sure the blood wasn't in my urine. Well she left it inflated while she pulled it out! PAINFUL! Anywho- after about 6-7 hours- she told me I just had gas! 2 more months of bleeding- I went to my GP and he did an ultrasound and found the cysts. STUPID ER OB!

thats what happend tome too, hunt around and maybe youll find a doctor that wont talk abot your weight as an issue i am 236 and clomidworked first cycle for me...so clomid NOT WORKING FOR HEAVY WOMEN IS A LIE!!!

Unless we have sperm issues- I just don't know what could be wrong. I think I am ovulating. Everything points to ovulation. However, we need a referral for a semen analysis and no one will refer us. I hate the medical system.

I had something similar going on... I had straight bleeding for over 3 months with very large clots that I could actually feel pass and come out, sorry tmi. The er was taking way too long so I just made an apt with an ob dr ( didnt have insurance at the time and didnt want to pay up front but the er around me is stupid!) She was nice, told me to lose weight and it would help my periods... put me on birth control for 6 months.. and since then everything has been great. I havent lost much weight but I did become more active.

I agree that I need to lose weight but I feel healthy and I am happy where I am. I just want a baby to complete our family.

You can order an at-home semen analysis from ebay.com if you search for "male fertility test". I don't know how well they work since I haven't used them but I heard about them over in the main TTC forum...
