I thought for sure I was having a girl and at 17wks they say boy

Now I wish I would have waited until 2wks sine I am reading about 17 wks being to early for an ultrasound, and that girls can have swollen labias. Please help. Anyone been told a boy at 17wks and have it be a girl?

At 17 weeks you should be able to tell gender to around 90% if you are a good sonographer. However it also depends if baby opens it's legs and cooperates! Baby girls can have swollen labia and look like boys but in most cases by 17 weeks you should be able to discern girl bits. Best time to check though is 19-20 weeks

I had a private scan with my DD at 16 weeks, and it was very obvious she was a girl. In fact, the sonographer said he was "300% sure". That being said, if the angle wasn't very good or the legs were in a weird position, they could make a mistake.

Were you sure it was a girl based on intuition, or symptoms, or your 12 week scan? (I ask, because DH and I are convinced we're having a girl, but we're Team Yellow, so I'll be shocked if it ends up being a boy).

A friend of mine was told that she was having a girl at her 20week scan by the NHS. Then she had to have a scan at 24weeks to check a cyst on ovary & was told was defo a boy! So go figure both nhs ultrasounds. She then paid for a 4D scan at 26weeks confirmed was a boy! So could be wrong at any point. Just depends when the hormone waves over the baby & makes the ovaries to move down to become testis. Each baby is diff having growth spurts at diff times. So nothing is 100% x
