Hi, can anyone help me???

I am a healthy 29 year old with 2 sons 11 and 12 years and am desperate for another baby.
My partner and i have been trying for 5 years but 2 years ago tests proved i had blocked fallopian tubes.
IVF is my only hope but the cost for us is impossible.
We have looked in to donating (egg sharing) in exchange for Ivf costs and have now decided to go for it but don't know where to start.
Can anyone give me any advice please?
Which clinic i should go to? (I heard CRM is good)
How long it will take?
Can i choose a recipient or do they do it?

Thank you in advance

A lot of hospitals do this scheme so you are better just looking around. It's the hospital that choose the recipient based on how close a match you are to them.

Most hospitals have websites with funding guides. I know the hospital I am at advertises the egg share scheme on its website and a few others do, too. Makes sense that the hospital chooses the recipient though. Otherwise, there are always going to be some who simply cannot let go. What if their donor recipient gets pregnant and they don't? How can you maintain emotional detachment if you know where your biological child is living, etc?

Yes your right, i just wasn't sure how it works.
Would you mind recomending a clinc? I am able to travell anywhere.
Are you an egg sharing donor for ivf also? Does the process take long?
Sorry for all the q's just i really have no idea where to start. xxxxxxx :)

Hi Hun

Im not sure there are many of us going though donor eggs. However there are many of us going through IVF/ICSI. Maybe there might be someone that can help with donor eggs.. I would say your 1st place to go is to speak to your GP and get some of your answers.

Also check the HEFA website, they can show you all the clinics close to you, comparisons of clinics and if they do donor eggs.

I dont know too much about it, but I think there is a bit of delay matching you with someone.

Good luck

Hi thank you for your help, i dont need an egg donor i want to donate my eggs in exchange for ivf (eggn sharing) as i cannot consive naturally due to 2 blocked fallopien tubes.
I will have a look on the HEFA websie for help. thank you and good luck. xxx :)

Hey Kel
I'm with Dilek above - this is something myself and DH were also considering.
Have a look at HFEA website and you can select on the right hand side the type of clinics you are interested in and how many miles you are willing to travel - then they will show the list. I also googled the top 10 performers for IVF clinics and then compared the two.
Good luck :hugs:

Hi Hun

I went to an appointment at the London Womens Clinic in Harley STreet about this.
I unfortuanetly wasnt eligible for the scheme because my FSH level is over 8 - but they still charged me £350 for the initial appoitment depsite the fact that with in the first five minutes they knew I couldnt proceed.
I know that they sometimes run free open evenings - so it might be good to go to one of these before forking out for the intial appointment costs.

There is alot to consider with egg sharing - for example if you dont get more than 8 eggs at egg collection stage the cycle is cancelled - I only got 4 eggs when I had my NHS go this year - and after all the drugs and heartache if they had told me that I had to abandon the cycle I would have been devastated.

Having said that - if its the only way of getting treatment then it must be wortth a go for you. But pelase try to find out as much as possible before forking out the money as its nto as free as they make out. I worked out that it would cost about £1600 with all the blood work and sperm tests they need to do on you before they decide you are eligible (and we had had alot of tests on the NHS so you might have to pay more if not currenlty undergoign fertiltiy treatment)- so you do need to factor that in. Its not entirely free.

Link to the clinic I went to is www.lwclinic.co.uk - they were very thorough adn have a good success rate.
havign had a look on the website they have open evenigns coming up over the next few motnhs in London, cardiff, darlington and swansea - so if near you would be worth going along.

PM me if you need anymore info.

Good luck hun

That's amazing. So great to see your little ones in the scan pic. Could you tell me if this did end up costing you much money at all?

im waiting to hear back about egg sharing (delays due to xmas) but it will still cost over £3000 per go as im not sharing with another woman (couldnt spend the rest of my life searching the crowd for children that look like DS and forever wondering if they where mine)

wish they would just start the process already the waiting is driving me insane
