I was hoping for a homebirth and didn't expect induction to be anything to consider. Now, my doctor thinks I have ICP. I'm waiting for an appointment for a non-stress test. Anyone else have experience with this? I hate the NICU with a passion and really don't want to end up there. So far, my doctor is not prescribing any medication, not even vitamin K. I figured I start that on my own.

I posted on this awhile ago in this forum before I got the official diagnosis. I just got my numbers back yesterday and it's Cholestasis.

Why does your Dr. think icp? Are you itching? Other symptoms? I went in for extreme itching. Liver tests were normal, bile salts test was sent off and just got back yesterday, normal range depending on lab 0-14 mine was 37. So we are planning on inducing when I reach 37 weeks. Now I wasn't planning on a home birth so I'm not heartbroken, I obviously want to do what's best for my daughter. My son was born at 36+4 so with any luck I'll go naturally before induction!

But I feel your pain! I was really looking for a place to vent while I was awaiting test results, but not many around with cholestasis right now. There is a sticky thread in third tri and that's where I've been.

It's supposedly 2 in a 1000 pregnancies that get it. My liver numbers were in the 400's range. Seriously. My blood bile salts were high too. I also tested positive for GBS and my glucose was high that day, too. I'm still waiting for a NST, and tomorrow I have to go get some bleed test to see if I will clot OK after delivery because the liver enzymes keep my body from absorbing vitamin K, which helps clotting, I guess. My biggest fear about childbirth has always been bleeding to death and now I'm told that's a possibility.
I found that sticky thread after my OP. People never check back in with their outcomes, or they post too many pages ahead and I miss it.

What did you mean with that "I wasn't planning a home birth, obviously I want what's best for my daughter"?

Lol sorry, I didn't mean it to come off lsounding judgmental. My first child was pre-term, and his birth did not go as planned, there were a lot of things that occurred that I would have wanted to happen different. So although I wasn't planning a home birth, I had expectations for this delivery that will no longer be possible due to cholestasis and labor induction. But when all is said and done, when your baby is here, you probably won't feel heartbroken that things didn't happen the way you had wanted. And the birth will be memorable no matter how it goes down. I'm glad I didn't know things were not going to go as planned with my son, it would have caused me a lot of upset and anxiety. Instead everything was sprung ion me and in the end none of it mattered. This time I have that hindsight. So although I want things a certain way I know in the end none of it will matter but my baby and her healthy delivery.
