Since I'm an older mommy I opted to have the non-invasive blood test which screens for the more common chromosomal defects. I found out today that the baby is healthy and that it's a GIRL!
We have 4 boys and a girl right now so this was such a surprise. A happy surprise of course. Perfect way to complete our family.
I'm still in shock! I even had the boy name all picked out!

Congratulations! Was the test expensive? With my other two I didn't do any screenings, but my last had a marker for down syndrome on the anatomy scan and I regretted not having the screenings. I wouldn't have done anything differently, but I just wanted to know. (baby turned out totally healthy). I'm trying to decide what screenings I should do, and I'm pretty sure my insurance won't cover most of them.
 
My insurance covered all but my deductible since I'm over 35. So $250 out of pocket. I think if insurance doesn't cover it that they have a sliding scale based on income.
