Hi All,

I am a researcher from the Department of Psychology, University of Plymouth.

We are currently seeking volunteers to take part in a self-help study designed to investigate different approaches to reducing worry and anxiety.

Worry is a natural part of being human, and in moderation can be useful. However, worrying too much can be very unhelpful and leave you feeling drained, unhappy and can put a strain on relationships. It can also affect your physical health and lead to stress.

There is a lot of scientific research showing the benefits of self-help techniques such as correcting negative thoughts or cultivating gratitude. These techniques can be very effective and have the added benefit that you can do them in your own home, whenever is convenient. You can take part in the study anywhere in the world, all you need is access to the internet!

There are no limits to numbers who can take part and we need as many people as possible, so please feel free to pass on the web address to those who you feel might benefit.

Why here? Well our research team has found that when we have run studies in the past, a lot of the participants who experienced most benefit have been women between 18 and 50. This reflects that self-help exercises may particularly useful for those in this age range.

If you would like to take part in our study you will first be asked to complete some questionnaires (which may take up to 10 minutes to complete), you will then have the chance to download a workbook. We ask that you complete the workbook, which will take around 5-10 minutes of your time each day for two weeks (14 days). The study is entirely self-help, you will not need to meet the research team at any point.

If you would like to take part or would like more information visit the study website:

All the best,

Adam Geraghty
