He girls!

This last coupld of hours I have been getting very sharp pains very low down on my left side and down below. Its constant pain and very uncomfortable, when I get up to walk I feel I can stand up fully straight as it really pulls. Has anyone else had anything like this before??

And does anyone know what constipation feels like?? is it VERY painfull??xxx

I've had this for the last week, I think it might be ligament loosening and stretching. It's been painful but it's getting better x

I had that pain too going from the left side, down through my tummy and was into my specialist last week and had a scan done( for other reasons) and mentioned that to her so she looked more into my left side and said there was nothing wrong and thought it was the ligament pain stretching etc... If you are worried I would call your doc or nurse and ask them about it as well Hope it feels better soon

Hi honey. I had this at 16 weeks, 19 weeks, and again now. I think it ties in with growth spurts. Bet you find your tummy grows in the next few days.

It's so worrying I know when it takes ages to straighten up when you stand up. Feel like a ninth year old!!

Your baby going through 1 of biggest growth spurts atm, probably why getting pain & discmfort

I get pains in my lower left side when I'm constipated and/or have trapped gas. It's happened quite a bit recently, NO FUN! Hope it goes away foor you soon. Try drinking some prune juice maybe?

It could be one of a hundred things...

Ligament stretching is the obvious one during pregnancy. But you mention "constipation"... when was the last time you went and what have your movements been like? As someone else mentioned, "wind" could be another culprit.. I think that whole area is a bit senesitive at the moment and, sometimes, it can be hard to discern what excatly is hurting...

I would say get it checked out... do you have an "NHS drop in centre" near you? They are open at weekends and normally odd hours...

I am 19 weeks and 2 days and I have been uncomfortable for the last few days too. Bit crampy, some sharp pains and generally feeling like I am being stretched from the inside. I also have a large incisional hernia which I am hoping doesn't start to play up. It is quite normal at this stage to have these cramps and aches as the others have said, there is a lot of growth going on at this time. Hope that helps. x

I've got it too hon. Left side again. Had it about 2wks now. Midwife said it's ligaments etc, too.

I was going to post a thread to see what this was i had it the other day all day and i could stand up straight or move easily .. and i was thinking of ringing midwife but i waited to see if it would go as i thought it was just stretching and its gone now but i think its just stretching dont worry :]

OMG you don't know how relieved i am to be reading this thread!!!

Started getting the exact same pain you have described, and on my left, about an hour and half ago or so... but was worrying as i have just had an amnio done.... *phew* am feeling a little easier now and realise that actually it probably is Ligament stretching!! a few weeks ago i spoke to my midwife about pain on my right, so makes sense, sort of, to now have it on the left!!

Nothing to worry about this is my 3rd pregnancy and I'm having those pain all over again and this is your body inside stretching had one of those yesterday and had to take paracetamol because it was unbearable and i was in tears it will go away when the baby will be born just take it easy

Thankyou all so much for the replies
Well.............
After I posted this yesterday a few hours later I was in pure agony, never felt pain like it and the only way I could get comfy was on all fours
So being in this state for a good while I was made to phone through to then NHS Direct............ The moment I said the word 'pregnant' They were on the ball and got me into be seen. So I had to go to a medical centre and was seen by a lovey doctor who checked me over but wasnt happy so she made me make a trip to the hospital labour ward to be checked over more.

I was waiting there for 2hours........... AGH!!!
When I was seen all was well, got to listen to my little girls heartbeat and they said it was very strong, they did a dip test with my water said there was a little protein but nothing to worry about and sent it off for testing anyway.
After giving me a good once over she was happy to send me home and to take co-codamol for the pain.

She said it could be one of 2 things, LO could be laying in a funny place or it is all the stretching going on in there.

I feel a little silly now after all that but better safe than sorry I guess and at least I know its nothing to worry about!

At the end of the day.............. Our bodys are going through such a MASSIVE change and we are making a little person inside and it isnt all going to be plain sailing
