Anyone on income support?

I want to know whether it's worth going to work part time, full time or not at all but I need to know how much you can get on income support.

So, if anyone doesn't mind, how many hours a week do you work (if you don't work what are your circumstances?), how much an hour do you get and how much income support (and any relating benefits) do you get?

I can't return to my current job as I have moved but if I were (16 hours pw at £6.20ph), after childcare (and all benefits taken into account) I would earn £144 a month... and we struggle on me earning £500 a month

I just don't know what to do work wise

It will depend on your circumstances - are you living with your OH ? You may be entitled to WTC if he works and also CTC, if he is on a low wage then you could also apply for council tax benefit and HB if you are renting.

By the way if you were working your childcare would most likely be almost completely covered by tax credits

At my income support interview last week, they said they would pay up to 70% of childcare and I would need to pay the remainder.

OH earns too much for us to get council tax and housing benefit, does this mean that if I was working under 16 hours I wouldnt get income support either?

We would only get £20 a week towards childcare if I worked 16 hours a week

you wont get IS anyway if your partner works its mainly for people who don't work you'd get WTC if he earned under 1700 a year i think it is and if he earned more then this you would only get CTC and CB x
