Injection to stop your milk coming in?

Hi ladies,
I have decided for various reasons that i will be FF from day 1.My mam FF all her 3 children and said that if you are not going to be BF they give you some kind of injection at the hospital to stop your milk from coming in. Since this was quite a while ago (lol), i was wondering if they still do this, and if they do, do any of you know what is the injection called?

Hmm..im not sure..I have heard of that too, but from my mum - she never has it done tho.

I do know that mothers who have HIV are given tablets to stop formation of breast milk so they do not pass it to the child...not sure if they hand them out in maternity wards though..!

Just noticed where you live..here in the UK i dont think mothers are given the option..!

Nope they stopped doing that years ago. They will njot give you anything to discourage your milk. They promote breastfeeding xx

i think if someone loses their child or other exceptional circumstances there is medication given, but if all is well they will not give you anything.

My mom had that injection after I was born - and she had a horrible side affect from it - it affected her hormones greatly and it changed her voice she thinks & even lost her voice for almost a month after I was born (odd I know but she swears it).

Dont think that they do anything like that these days..... if you decide to ff only - they will just let nature run its course & have you dry up without meds.
