ok, so im currently waiting for af to show her face so i can book in for my pre treatment scan which will be between day 5 and 8, i have also then got to book an appointment to learn how to inject myself.

Is own fault really i didnt ask what this meant, would this be the trigger shot? or do i have to do it on certain days on my cycle more than once?

Can any of u girls that have done IUI help me?

Hi hayley,

I'm hoping to start injections next month for ovulation (not having iui though). If this is the same thing that you're referring to, I think we will have to learn to inject ourselves for the first half of our cycles.

As far as I'm aware, I'll have to inject myself with a low dose of meds for 2 weeks and go for twice weekly scans. At the scans the doc will decide if I need less or more medicaton according to what size the follicle/s is.
Once the eggie is a good size, I think the hospital will give me a trigger shot.

This is what I've taken from the limited info I've been given. There don't seem to be many ladies injecting themselves for iui or the 'sort of natural' route so we're on our own x

Over here all IUI is done with injectable's () shame as I had thought with IUI I'd be able to avoid needles!

As far as I have been told its injections used in a similar way you would take clomid - I think its Gonal F?

A jab a day for about 5 days near the beginning of your cycle

my iui treatment will start with septembers cycle and they have said i need to go for an hours appointment before that to learn how to do it.

not looking forward to it, im ok with needles but not doing it to myself

Hi HAyley - been away for a couple of says so just seen your post. They probably set aside an hour for the appointment in case you have any questions but it doesn't take that long! The Gonal F should be in a pre filled pen. The needle is really small and you stick it in your leg and givce it 2 clicks. A few times I had a little blob of blood, sometimes there was a bit of resistence and it smarted a tiny bit but mostly it goes straight in without you really feeling it. The ovitrelle (trigger shot) is in a slightly bigger injection with a slightly longer needle but again once you get over the fact of injecting yourself its fine. The first time, they taught me using a little pin cushion thing which teaches you the feeling of the tension.

Hope that helps and that IUI is lucky for you...

Millnsy x

thanks, i think its the trigger shot i am the most worried about, the pen i think ill be ok with x

I used injectibles with a trigger shot and both weren't bad at all. I found all the blood work they had to do worst because by the end of the cycle I felt like a pin cushion.
