Excellent!! We managed to capture Abby's on camera too. Such a precious moment to keep watching! I love they way they build up to it.

all amazing and so powerful stories!
my auntie had little jack 7week early,
he was 5lb 5oz and a fighter striahgt from there.
he didnt need any help or support and was home 5days later.
hes progressin really well. to look at him u would think he was full term but his developmental skills are just a bit behind. but hes adorable and a little cutie.

listenin to what some of use have to go throuugh from babies born so early is heartbreakin, i cant imagine not being able to hold ava when she was born. comin home and she is still in hospital. every single one of u are amazing people and brilliant mums stayin so strong for them. x

She finally got to come from the hospital on 08/19/09!! She is doing great now days, she is still small and weighs about 15lbs not at 11 months old!! This is Justus now!!

I thought since all the other forums (baby club, toddlers...) have introduction threads why not here?

I will start...

This is Lakai Hamilton Kraft, born on Nov 2, 2008 (due date Feb 16, 2009). 17 weeks early or 23 weeks plus 4 days. He was born early due to infection. He has ROP which needed surgery, a Grade IV IVH with no issues once resolved, hernia surgery, paralyzed vocal cord from his PDA surgery, a g-tube because he aspirates when fed orally...and other minor things. Our NICU stay was long and hard but we made it out the other side pretty much without any of the things the doctors were sooo sure he would have (CP, gross motor delays, fine motor delays....) He is currently 6 months plus a week.

Here he is then and now....

Beautiful baby!! Congrats!!!!! :hugs:

they are all such beautiful babies and blessing!!!!! Congrats to you all!!

DD2 was born at 36w and I dont know why she came early. She was in the NICU 2w and needed O2, Feeding tube, and IV. She lost her twin brother in utero. She was 6-9mo behind in all developmental areas but has been caught up since she aged out at 3.
She is now a happy, healthy 4yr old.

My wee daughter was/is a preemie too..
She was born 33+5, was 4lb4oz. We never really found out why she was born so early, but we still consider ourselves lucky seeing as she has always been very healthy. She never needed any help with her breathing or anything, just needed to be kept warm and fed through the terrifying tube because she didn't quite get the idea of breastfeeding, just simply would not eat from me. So we pumped, pumped and pumped some more - whilst trying to breastfeed of course. Eventually, when she was almost 4 weeks old, she got the idea and we were finally getting somewhere! So they transferred us from NICU to post-natal for a few days.. Sophia was 4 weeks and 5 days old, when we finally got to take her home :cloud9:
She is now 11 months old, celebrating her first birthday next month! Incredible :cloud9: My wee fighter..

First was a baby girl, l had high bp from about 18 weeks and by 31 weeks had protein in my urine. I was given steriod injections and then when urine was analysed I had 10 times the amount of protein and my kidneys were failing. I had my baby girl on christmas day 2005, she weighed 3lb 6oz but she was expected to be 4lbs but the placenta stopped working a few weeks before. She was fine only needed to be kept warm grow and use a bottle she was in for 25 days in special care. She was slow with talking but by 3 she has been babbling away and now she can't stop talking she is very clever her reading age is of an 8 year old and starting school this sept under the gifted and talented register. Very proud of my baby girl she was a real fighter

My second, a boy was a more problematic pregnancy. My bp was in control and had no protein in my urine etc. At 21 weeks found out baby has not grown well, at 23 weeks told baby had severe IUGR and was kept monitored via scans and dopplers. At 24 weeks was given steriods. End of 25th week the dopplers showed reversed flow and by 26+2 it had totally reversed and baby had 12-24 hours in utero. We decided to deliver our baby boy via classical c-sec on 9th July 2010 he weighed 1lb 5oz. He is having some major problems with his lungs so he is still ventilated but otherwise no serious complications and growing well and fighting on.

Two very different experiences

My two little preemies are Joe and Harry, born on 28th January this year at 23 weeks and 5 days. They are 7 months now and doing fantastically well. I don't have early pics of them on this computer but thye can be seen on our blog if you are interested.

edited to add that I can't add a web link as I haven't posted enough yet but if you google joe and harry premature twins you will find it.

Welcome to all the newbies.

I just had a wee look at your blog JoeandHarry. What gorgeous boys. It sounds like you have had quite a journey!

Elveneye, which unit were you in? The first birthday ia such a big moment isn't it!

This is my beautiful little girl, Olivia Maye, born 26th July 2010, at 30 week's, weighing 2lb's 1oz. She was delivered early due to mummy being diagnosed with cancer when i was 10 week's pregnant, we were originally told we would only go as far as 24 week's! But we carried right on to 30, where during a doppler, it was discovered i had placenta flow problem's and i was sent in for an emergency cesearean!! Scariest time of my life, but am such a proud mummy! Started treatment now, and although im scared at time's, she fought for me and i will fight for her. Just cant wait to get her home now and cherish every second!!
