Iron getting into breastmilk?

How much does your body process stuff out before it goes to your breastmilk? For instance if I took in too much iron, would that create a problem for my LO? Or would my body get rid of what it doesn't need like normal and not affect the contents of the milk? Not necessarily specifically iron, just any mineral or vitamin in general...
 
I think it totally depends on the mineral and the size of the molecule involved. Iron specifically - I read an article that said iron levels in milk are unaffected by a mum taking iron supplements. Other things (alcohol for example) do pass in to milk in small quantities. It totally depends!
