Its cd7 and am 5 days into my folical stim injections for IVF. I had my 2nd scan today and it shows I've only got 3 folicals..... I hope its enough?
those of you that have had IVF, how many follicals did you have on your day 6/7 scan?

PMA..... it only takes one egg for a :baby:

You are so right - it does only take one fertilised egg to make a baby.

Try not to dwell on 'only' having 3 follicles. Firstly, don't forget that the scans they do are 2D which means they are looking at a flat surface and your ovaries aren't flat. There could be a couple more follicles that are hidden behind the ones they can see. I had 8 follicles visible during my last cycle and then collected 11 eggs, as once they drained one follicle another one became visible. I've heard stories of one woman at my clinic, that collected 24 eggs and none fertilised, then another woman who collected 2 eggs, both fertilised, both were placed back, and both implanted. So, in a nutshell, don't worry yourself unnecessarily. The important thing, is that all of your follicles contain mature healthy eggs, and they fertilise and continue to develop normally...

How are you finding the stimulating drugs?

thanks you, intresting stories.
The drugs are ok, my stomach is bruised from all the injections already! I also started injecting the Orgalutran this morning too. No major side affects other than being very tired and some sore heads. I went for acupuncture yesterday, really enjoyed it.

not long untill your egg collection, how exciting. I've got my next scan on Monday, from then I'll find out my egg collection date.....ohhhhhhh

Does it have to be injection? isnt there tablets instead?? sorry to butt in im learning about all this still...

good question! I dont know the answer to that. I've only ever heard people talk about the injections they have to have for IVF, never tablets.

It depends on your blood results for what type of medications you take. If you have to down regulate it can be done either with nasal sprays or injections. I'd much prefer the injections as I hate anything going up my nose ... can't you tell i've never snorted any of the white stuff? ... The down side to nasal sprays is if you have any allergies and are sneezing alot, or have a cold and are blowing your nose alot, then you might not be sure if you've absorbed enough of the drugs - with the injections you know it's done.

well its a good job am not on any nasal sprays, I've got a stinking cold just now!
You obviuosly know your stuff! do you know if am ok taking a chest cough mixture just now???

I know a little bit about it, but I am no where near being an expert. I'm nosey and ask loads of questions that's all. I had a really heavy cold the other week and was taking beechams all in one, decongestants and paracetamol. Then I had to take penicillin for a throat infection. Your best bet is to check with a pharmacist first if you're not sure.

I wouldn't worry about your follicle number yet either. I've heard many, many stories of women whose follicles don't mature or don't show until later in stimulation. So hang in there. And yes... It only takes one!

I'm starting the nasal spray this month too for my next IVF round. And I am dreading it. I would much, much prefer the injection to the spray. But my Dr. has decided this is the best protocol for me... and I'm going to get through it.

Mrs. T... don't worry about injections. After you do the first one the rest are fine. And they don't hurt!
