Is anyone going to or having DVT prevention HEPARIN

Hello,

Are any other ladies having heparin injections during their pregnancy? Or know that they will have eventually?

I was diagnoised with DVT with my 4th at 38weeks and was on heparin injections for 2-3 weeks before moving onto warfarin for about 6 months after delivery.

On my 5th baby I was started on heparin injections from 13weeks till about 6 weeks after delivery as a preventative measure.

I assume that this time will be the same situation and although I don't like the injections as such, I did learn to live with them and I am prepared to do it all again.

I am overweight too, which is another reason why I would be on them anyway.

Just would like to know if anyone else is in a similar/same boat

Yes I did. I was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism in my first pregnancy at 32 weeks and was on it from 7 weeks with baby number two.bloody painful things. The first time I went on warfarin but I found the second time easier just to stay on the injections because it was only for a further 6 weeks rather than the 6 months I got annoyed with having the levelsachecked on the warfarin
