We're starting weaning under 6 months and LO has had some baby rice.

Is it only baby rice they can have to start?

what about oat puree??

When can we stir in some veg/fruit?

How far under 6 months is you LO? My LO didn't really like rice so we went on to carrot and sweet potato very quickly but it was so close to the 6 months that we moved over to BLW once we hit that.

Oh and in answer to your question I think the main things to avoid are meats and eggs until after 6mnts but most fruit and veg would be ok. Obviously though, the closer to 6 months you leave it the better so their belly is a bit more mature.

My little boy is 4months, he started on baby rice for about 3days but wasnt too keen, he now has pureed vegetables for dinner, fruit puree for pudding and creamy porridge for breakfast, he is fine. He has stopped bein sick after his bottles and has had no problems :) x

We've started weaning before 6 months and my lo has all kinds of pureed Veg & Fruit. Avoid Gluten, Egg, Meat and anything you or family members may be allergic to. My lo is lactose intolerant so we have to be very careful. Good luck :)

It's recommended that you avoid wheat/gluten, dairy and meat before 6 months, but like niki said, it also depends on how much under 6 months your LO is/will be!

Sophie was premature and is 5.5 months actual age but only 3 months corrected (what she should have been had she come on her due date!) We started weaning her almost 2 weeks ago, and so far we have given her baby rice, the Heinz banana cereal and Heinz yoghurt and fruit. They are both for 4+ months.

We have also given her butternut squash but we make everything really runny - the butternut squash we water down with her milk, and the cereals we make slightly runnier than the measurements on the packet - we're just trying to get her used to new flavours and textures and giving her the tiniest little bit! You are meant to wean premmies according to their actual age which is why we're doing it when she is still so small.

We have been using this chart and finding it really helpful:

My LO is almost 5 months, I've just started introducing baby porridge or the pots of pureed fruit in the mornings as she's starving after sleeping all night. I think pureed veg would be ok to give your LO? And the pureed fruit?

I'd say pureed root veggies and fruits such as apples and pears for the first few weeks, then add veggies such as broccoli and cauliflower once first tastes are accepted x
