Is it safe for us ladies to do some painting? We have 1 wall in the nursery that needs done and 1 wall in the living room. Just to tidy the place up a bit! Hubby says he will do it but I feel guilty cos he works and I'm on leave at the minute. The paint we have is dulux matt emulsion xx

Aslong as the rooms well ventilated then it should be fine. Just be careful with over stretching and standing on ladders or anything!

Well my mother is a MW and she went absolutely mad with my sister for us both painting the rooms as its the stretching action of the roller which can tear the placenta and painting the ceiling etc (although my mother could also be a bit ott maybe but there is a tiny risk).

I had painters around the other week and they was using dulux emulsion and crown paint and Im not joking the entire house stank even with every window / door open so I would strongly recommend that you go to your friends house as all the chemicals and toxic fumes are not good for us and let your oh do it !

I painted our entire large kitchen a few weeks ago with a dulux paint pod!!

I was extra careful to not reach too much and had the windows open but I was fine, no dizzy spells or anything! My arms did get tired more often than normal tho. Just take your time and be careful if you do do it xxxx

I didn't realise we weren't even supposed to paint till after I'd don't the living room wall the other day! Luckily it didn't even smell and I used the sofa to stand on so I was the right height without stretching and it was alot sturdier than the ladder

I painted my room the other week- nesting to extreme. I let DBF do the high bits then there was no stretching. Modern paints are low risk but open windows and go out for rest of day.

I haven't this pregnancy but did lots of painting last time. As long as it's water based (which emulsion is) it will have low VOCs which are responsible for the poisonous fumes. Best to avoid oil based paints - well best to not use them anyway as they and the spirits needed to clean brushes are disgustingly polluting as well as poisonous.

I agree about not overdoing it or stretching too much. I am sure painting loads of skirting contributed to my waters going early last time  Though it's good being on all fours if baby isn't in the right position!

everywhere is written that you have to paint with at least 3 months before baby arrives.
however, if you still want to do it, I suggest you to wear a mask for builders, as it has air filter, good ventilation in rooms, and don't sleep is them
I do artist painting but I've never paint during pregnancy coz I've read a lot about chemicals that goes through placenta to baby
I should say better to avoid any risk...

No all I'm going to do is the edges, rounds sockets etc. No ladders or stretching involved, just the actual paint itself.

My midwife said it's ok to paint babys room as long as its 4 weeks before baby sleeps there xx
