Is it true..

i heard its because it can mask if the baby ends up having a fever relating to his jabs im not sure to be honest my HV also suggested giving Ollie some before his 3rd set as he seemed to be in a lot of pain after set 2 i did because i hadnt heard of the whole no calpol before jabs thing but to be honest it didnt seem to make much difference.

xx

you can give calpol for the 8 week jabs. It even says on the nurofen instructions can be given to baby prior to 3 months for their immunisations

I didn't give it to my LO before the jabs as I thought if he reacted then I wouldn't know if it was the injections or the Calpol he had reacted to.

We had it in the house and kept an eye on him after them. Each time he screamed when they were done, had a good feed straight afterwards then a sleep and was perfectly fine. He seemed to be the most irritable and cried the longest after the first set (cried for a good five mins), second set had stopped crying before we reached the waiting room and third set stopped crying very quickly when he was given a cuddle.

The nurse said not to give Calpol before hand as they may not need it. She also said the 8 and 16 week injections were the worst because the 5 in 1 injection given at those times stings a lot and they don't have it at the 12 week ones.

No it's fine hun I was really confused. I should have known better than to trust my HV anyway after the way she made me cry .. I couldn't find the thread you were on about though so thought I'd just start a new one. It's nothing personal just wanted to see what other people thought :hugs:
