I'm thinking of getting an electric pump. Which one do people recommend?

I have a distant friend who said I could borrow their Medela mini electric breast pump, but not sure why its called 'mini' and no idea if its meant to be any good.

I think it's called mini because there's only one pump - not sure though. I've got one and it's great for expressing one handed while feeding LO. It's a bit noisy but nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be - in fact LO usually falls asleepto the rhythmic noise it makes! I'd definitely recommend it if you're a part time expressed- you'll probably want a double pump if you plan on exclusively expressing x

The mini medela one is okay- it took me a while to get any real amounts of milk out with it. It's very, very noisy. But it does have a battery option so it is portable. Also, it does't mimic letdown but suctions the nipple quite far inside it. I found it really rubbed and aggravated my left boob, but was fine with the right.

I'd ask to borrow it and try it out before committing to it :)

Yes it's good but like others have said it is noisy. the medela swing is probably better cos it's very quiet and sort of mimics let down too. But the mini one is just fine hun x

Ive just had a Medela mini electric breast pump and its realy good, its abit noisy but i dont mind. Its so much better than the tommy tippee manual pump i had!!

Noisy for sure! I can't hear well when my friend is using hers on the phone LOL but she will cover it with a blanket to try and quiet it down some. She likes how it works though :)

I have 2 medela harmony manual pumps and I love them! They work fast and easy :) I don't pump often but I was pumping a few times I day and my hands didn't get sore or anything. Good luck, I would try it first before buying one.

I use the swing for pumping while on my way to work. and the lactina at work

I had a double medela mini and wasn't the biggest fan... very noisy and it sucked milk into the motor and it gave up. Only a 3 month warranty on the motor, too.

I've got one and love it, although I have nothing to compare it to but it does the job perfectly:thumbup:

I would recommend it for occassional pumping, but not if you are exclusivley pumping. If you are pumping exclusivley, then this pump with take way too long, it is super noisy and probably won't last. That being said, I have a medela double pump AND a mini, the double is for home and the mini stays in my diaper bag for travel. I find it really helpful when I am in the car and need to pump as i am unable to breastfeed while the car is in motion (good for long trips).

I had one. Worked fine. It even had a way to pump both sides... (newer ones do not). It IS noisy but will do the job.
