Hello. I got home from work at about 10:20pm uk time (its now 11:40 pm) and my partner was in bed with her mum by her side. She is 38 weeks and 4 days. She had bad contraction like pains at 7:50, 8:20, 8:40, 9:00, 9:30 and 10:00 but nothing since. She has been sleeping since then with nothing (that we know of!). Does this possibly sound like a false warning? She hasn't "shown" when going to the toilet although she did apparantly have a spell of going 4 times in an hour for a wee. As I say, its now been 1 3/4 hours since the last pain, so could this have been Braxton hicks? She's due 30th may

For me the difference between BH and real labor contractions was very clear. The BH were more of a "breathless" hardening of the whole uterus that I especially felt on the top front, definitely uncomfortable and kind of miserable when it happened 2-4 times in one hour some evenings, becoming more frequent in the last few weeks of pregnancy. The labor contractions (that woke me from sleep) were "ouchie" from the beginning. They were also very low down, more like menstrual pain, and I could really imagine them working on my cervix. It sounds like your partner is just in a practice phase. Unfortunately, for 1st timers, there can be ambiguous contractions that go on for days before labor becomes established. So unfair but sooner or later that baby will appear. :)

Thank you for your reply. She has not had any pains since 10pm last night (13 hours ago) and she has even now gone out with her mum, so it was definitely BH I think! I'm terrified about the birth. More than her I think!! To think of the pain and suffering she's going to go through is horrible, I'm a big worried and just wanted to know what was happening to her last night!! Thank you for your help 😊

Yep sounds like BH or false labor. If in question have her drink water and lay on her left...if pain subsides it's false. I'm personally stuck in this awful false starting malarchi as well, and I'm also due the 30th.

Soon! :hugs:
