Am thinking of changing from breastfeeding to formula.

Is it OK to put the water in the bottles earlier in the day and then heat up the water when need in the microwave and add the formula after?

Many thanks

There are most likely people that do this with no problems at all, but I think you're only supposed to heat the water once...and it should be at least 70 degrees to kill off any bacteria in the milk powder. Saying that though, I don't make up bottles using the 'recommended' method - I make them all up in the morning, cool them in a bowl of cold water then pop in the fridge, then warm up as needed using a bottle warmer.

this is the way i do it - i dont like LO to have 2 wait while i make up fresh bottles all the time - its madness! x

i wondered this too take ages to make up a bottle each time.. but heard not ment to warm in microwave as when you think its warm it can keep cooking so ill use a bottle warmer or hot water in bowl xx

I have tried so many different ways and now do this - its quickest and follows the safety guidelines.

Sterilise bottles and put in fresh boiled water - leave them to cool.

When Anna wants fed - eg 6oz feed -I boil tiny bit of water in kettle - pour into empty sterilised bottle up to 2oz mark - add 6 scoops - then pour in 4 oz of the cooled boiled water. That make the milk perfect temperature too:flower:

I boil a kettle of water, pour into a flask, let it cool and cover. When LO needs a feed, I simply pour the required amount into her bottle add formula, shake and feed...takes about 40 seconds.

This is what I do

So you just used cooled water at room temperature - and not warm it?

This is the way I used to do it and all was fine, but then I was hearing everyone say, and the tub says it too, that the powder has to be added when water is hot

My tub says 40 oC & feed at body temperature 37 oC. So, this is what I do. It doesnt say prepare with hot water.
