Is waiting until positive OPK to DTD too late?

If I test twice a day using OPKs and finally get a positive and DTD only that day and the day after, will this reduce the chances of conceiving? We are wanting a boy (although another girl would be great too) so we would like to try the Shettles Method but it seems like waiting until I get a positive OPK might reduce the chances. What do you think?? We tried this my last cycle and didn't get pregnant.

i would have said it depends how much you want a baby...its a 50/50 shot each way and though there are many methods i dont think any of them influence gender. the best times to dtd is the week leading up to the ovulation every other day then every day from first +opk. in my case, we do it when we feel like it, which has been every day lol.. but then again that worked for us in july.xx

Due to my OH's low sex drive, we mostly only did it on the day of the +ve OPK - nine cycles later and I still wasn't pregnant. For the past two cycles we've been taking a NTNP approach and have actually been having sex a bit more.

The ovulation test adverts say the tests can tell you the two best days to BD on, and it makes sense that the closest to ovulation you have sex, the more likely you are for the sperm to reach the egg. Personally, I think there's too much focus on +OPKs and not enough on observing fertile CM.
I read a study a while ago that concluded there was a better chance of conceiving if you had sex during times of fertile CM, despite proximity to ovulation.
It makes sense to me as having fertile CM really helps the sperm to get to where they need to be and to survive their journey.
Personally, by the time I get my positive OPK, my CM has pretty much dried up and my cervix no longer seems 'favourable'. So for me at least, I think it's more important to have sex on the days leading up to the +OPK.

Went off on one there a bit, sorry! :haha:

Of course, there's plenty of stories of ladies that did it close to ovulation and got pregnant.
So if you really do want a boy and you're not feeling desperate to conceive, trying to aim for as close to ovulation as posible seems like a good idea, it's still very possible.

My OB, along with a lot of articles out there on the internet, says you have the best chance of getting pregnant if you bd the day before you get your positive OPK.

From personal experience, I got my my last 2 BFP by bd only on the day before my positive OPK bc partner had to go out of town....it took only one time (my partner has low libido uggg) and it was the day before.

I think we're just going to DTD as soon as I see fertile CM. It probably is 50/50 either way.
