Is your MW nice or a nightmare?? xx

I have seen two, but that's because our doctors surgery have different branches and I chose to go to one that was closer to my hubby's work, where a different midwife is based.

The first one was fine with me but she was a right cow to the support workers with her and I didn't like that. She also came to my home to complete the booking in appointment and again was fine with me but just a bit cold I guess.
The second one at my 16 week appointment seemed a lot nicer but obviously had an issue with my weight as she did go on about it a bit - not too much but certainly more than the first and she wouldn't do the heartbeat because of my weight (until I cried about it - I had been feeling ill and been looking forward to it all day! Then she agreed to do it!)

I think when I see her next I will get a proper good idea about what she's like. The appointment wasn't really long enough to make my mind up.

I guess I am not overly bothered though as they presumably won't be the ones there when I give birth and so I am just hoping the ones at the hospital are really nice! x

ive seen a different one each time ive been for my appointments, theyve all been really nice apart from the one i had for my 16 weeks appointment she just seem to rush thought things and wouldnt even attempt to listen to babys heart beat she told me she wouldnt listen untill i was 28 weeks which i think it way too late xxx

Aiimee12345.. Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well 4u & baby hun, Im sure it will xxx

I like my MW, my mum also had her aswel when she was pregnant with me, al; tho yesterday when I went, I wasn't impressed that she spoke freely on the phone to another MW about a lass I was at school with not knowing how to breast feed even mentioning her name.
Hope she doesn't do that about me in front of a patient! She seemed to rush me last week, but this week was much nicer :)

becks ur soo luki, my midwife wont evn listen to bby til 25 weeks. shes never taken my weight, only done urine samples and blood pressure

She's a horror. She wrote her number in the front of my notes because she had to, and then told me to never ever bother her because she can't help me!

I've been so blessed with my Ob/Gyn clinic. They deliver at one of the best hospitals in my state and the nurses and "most" of the doctors are fab! Really happy with them for over 7 yrs.

My regular MW is very nice a bit dappy and jokes about something every 5 minutes but at least she makes me feel comfortable.
The MW's at the hospital are all a bit detached and aloof and make you feel like you are in a production line. They answer in a short way and make me feel like Im asking a stupid question. I cant wait to get out of there to be honest. The sonograhers were also like this, they dont like to get involved and pack you in and out quick.
Its nice if you can build up a relationship with a friendly one :)

That's very similar to my schedule. In our trust, FTMs have appointments for the following weeks, I believe:
8
-- 12-week scan (at hospital) --
16
-- 20-week scan (at hospital) --
25
28

So far I've had three midwife appointments (8, 16, and I had a blood draw at 17 weeks because of some mix up at the lab) and I've seen three different midwives. They've all been lovely to be honest, I don't have any complaints about them personally. However, I don't feel like they're very accessible outside of my usual appointments. We can phone their office between half-eight and half-nine in the morning on weekdays, I think, and speak to a midwife if we can manage to get through (I've tried for half an hour straight with no luck before). Not very helpful if I have an urgent problem any later in the day!

So personally, my midwives are fine. They're very friendly and attentive when I'm sat right in front of them. But if I had any complications or concerns, I wouldn't have any way to contact them, and I'd have to phone L&D instead. Not really an ideal situation for anyone involved.
