Waste of money or valuable saving of time and effort?

Ive got one and reckon its going to be extremely worthwhile. I have a 3 door car so trying to get the seat in and out without a base would be a nightmare. I think Id have bought one even if I had a 5 door. I bought mine 2nd hand. x

My sister had one with her son and she told me this was one of the things I simply HAD to get, she said it was a brilliant piece of equipment and saved her a lot of time, I also got mine second hand, as in mamas and papas they wanted £140 for the base alone!

I had one for first baby, absolutely fantastic, just saves so much time and fiddling, and that isn't even considering the safe aspect!

Thank Ladies, just need to figure out if my car is compatable now as it wasn't on the list in babies r us

I wouldn't be without one, they are so handy and 100% worth the money xx

much much safer and so much easier...wouldnt be without mine! xx

the guy in mothercare told me not to bother if i have a 5 door car, he said theyre pointless as theyre just as safe as a seat belt if theyre installed correctly.. but I have a 3 door corsa. and its a nightmare to strap a carseat in the back! so ill be getting one. :)

We found it fab! Seat goes in easily and pops out with one pull! Much easier than having to strap it in and out all the time! If you use your car frequently I'd say it would definitely be worth it, but if you barely use the car, I wouldn't worry too much :flower:

100% worth every penny, still need to get one, I hated going in others people's cars cuz I had to spend ages fiddling with buckles and slots! X

They're brilliant, much easier & quicker than using a belt.

Yes, definitely worth the money!

Sounds crazy but you then don't have to fanny around with getting a belt on as you click the car seat in and go!

I have the maxi cosi one that you can use with the isofix anchors or seatbelt. As it will
Be going on the middle seat which doesn't have isofix (in-between my boys booster seats) it's going to be secured using the seatbelt. Tried and tested and the base and seat don't move at all.

But i do have the option to use the isofix if I choose to switch seats around!

Seriously everyone should have one. We were in an accident on the motorway when DS was 10months - it was a pile up and a car went into the back of me at about 60 mph. We were all unhurt apart from whiplash. The part of the iso-fix that touches the floor was bent - we were telling a member of staff in Mothercare about it and she said it was bent because it took all the impact of the accident rather than his seat taking it and she wished every parent could hear our story as they would realise how great they are. HTH xxxx

Thanks for that story - I'm still trying to convince DF that we need an Iso-fix unit for my car.
Does the unit still take all the impact if the car is hit from either left or right side?

I'm not sure hun I should think so though. We're seriously skint at the moment as I am a SAHM to DS but we are still saving for another iso-fix base for the new baby. If you buy the family fix base and a maxi cosi pebble seat the base can then be used with the maxi cosi toddler/child seat the Pearl so although it costs £150 ish it lasts up to about 4 years xx

fab thanks sooo much for that!!
I am hoping to get the pebble(about the only thing I am dead set on getting!) So yes the family fix base would be a defo with it!
Loving this forum at the mo!!

Only just purchased one of these bases and goddamit...should have done it a year ago! We currently have an ERF seat which is mounted into the car but before that I used a maxi cosi seat which I would strap into the car with a seat belt. Complete faff! Sooo much safer and easier to click the maxi cosi seat into the isofix base. So new baby will be using the base!

Definitely worth getting one!

How do you know if your car is suitable? I have the horrible feeling our car is too old :-(
