It starts today!!

Hi guys...I've just started my AF today and started taking Buserelin this evening...

It's been quite a journey these last couple of months as my body decided in its infinite wisdom to skip a period in Dec/Jan wihtout warning, just as the clinic called me in to start stimming in my Jan cycle!!

I';m 40 in March and need to start medication before my birthday to qualify for 1 free NHS treatment.

So here I am...starting to get apprehensive now that it is really happening!!!!

I ahve no idea what to expect and just going to try and take it one day at a time...but I believe I have fun menopausal symptoms to look forward too.

P.S. The docs wanted me to start stimming Day 1 not Day 21 as normal, due to the expediency of getting my cycle of medication started ASAP....

Wow, can you believe I couldn't remember, I had to check my notes

I started down regging with Buserelin injections on CD21. 13 days later I started AF (CD1) and on CD8 day they did a baseline scan. I started stimms the following day (classed as CD1 again) along with the Buserelin injections... two injections a day In that time I think I had three scans to check for OHSS, to check the lining and check how many follicles. On CD13 I had EC and 36 hours later ET...

Obviously the sypmtoms can vary from woman to woman but I did find myself getting very emotional when it came to the injections (as I hate needles) and I had to inject in my leg and sometime a big red itchy lump appeared but went down after half an hour. My sister in law was told to inject in her tummy so it was quite swollen after a while. Mine only started becoming a little swollen once I had started stimms and I was quite close to OHSS. I had maybe the occasional hot flush... the odd mood swing... DH was told what to expect so made himself scarce but was always there if I needed him

I phoned the clinic today to let them know I started my cycle and Buserelin and they are going to get back to me later today with my schedule.

Just wanted to say good luck with your treatment, really hope it works out for you.

This is bad as it's only a few weeks ago, but I cant remember my schedule!! I think it was buserelin for 14 days, which was a Wednesday, then i started stimming on the Friday, so buserelin for just over 2 weeks, then 2 injections a day with the stimms as well.

It is all a bit confusing at first, but once you're in the swing of things, you'll be a pro in no time
