IUI bd or placing sperm inside? Which one is the better way?

Hi sweet ladies,

I will be on IUI treatment next AF. Doctor told me to visit him on second day of my next af and he will give me injection + daily injection at home for a few days. Then I have to revisit him and he will need to look at my eggs. He said if ok, I can bd on right timing.

I came back form hospital and googled up IUI and learned that it was a procedure of placing the washed sperm into my uterus. I just wondering why my doc told us to bd instead? What is the difference between these? Which one has the higher success rate?

Anyone here who has ever gone through IUI treatment, your advice are appreciated!
