Iui question??

hi ladies, I'm just wondering if having iui involves taking a lot of time off work? My oh and I have been ttc for 24 months now and have had all the usual tests which have come back fine. We've been offered iui and we'll obviously go down that route if that's the only way but I'm just curious as to how much time and hospital visits are involved in it?

Hi toots, I took no time off work for my IUI. do you have to take off every time you go to the doctor because of distance? If you can just go on a break then you should be fine because all visits are pretty quick, atleast for me they were. I went in on cd3 for a baseline, then in my fertile time to check eggs and see when to take my trigger shot, and then for my IUI, so first cycle I had 4 visits cuz they did back to IUIs and last cycle 3 cuz I only did one. Hope that helps!

I haven't had to take anytime off work either. I schedule my monthly / weekly scans for first thing in the morning before work so I end up at work earlier than normal, then when the IUI is actually done I just sneak out for about an hour to an hour and a half. Then I come back and resume my day as normal. I am very lucky that the clinic I'm going to is only a 2 min drive from my office and my boss knows what we are going through so she is very supportive and just says "go do what you need to do" that does take a lot of pressure off things! But you could always just say you have an errand to run and you're taking an early lunch. That's what I tell the people who work in my area and see me leave at 10:30 or so to have it done.

How have you found having iui so far? I still haven't made any arrangments to start yet as I'm a bit nervous! I ovulate on my own and don't have any probs and oh is fine so I guess its just one of those things that aren't meant to happen naturally.

I was really very scared to have an IUI done, but there's nothing to it. I read a lot and everyone kept comparing it to a Pap, well after all my infertility testing I couldn't even remember if a pap had hurt me or not. But really, most you'll feel is a pinch, if anything at all, and it's over in just about a minute. Good luck, I hope it works your first time, don't be nervous!
