I have been getting really awful low stomach pains since Friday morning and so on Sunday night, I decided to call the out-of-hours GP. They told me to go up their clinic at the hospital, which I did, thinking they would say it's just stretching pains and send me off with some paracetamol....
But noooooooo.... GP thought it may be a placental abruption so sent me over to maternity for tests. I saw the on-call consultant, and after checking "The Bean" was ok (Good strong heartbeat!) they decided that the location of the pain was such that they actually suspected I had appendicitis!
So waited for a surgeon to come see me (and may I say, an absolutely gorgeous hunk of a man he was too!) and he agreed that it was a strong possibility! So at 2am Sunday night/Monday morning I was admitted for more tests.
I had a full abdominal ultrasound yesterday and they eventually ruled out appendicitis!! Thank feck for that!! Did not want to risk anaesthesia for "The Bean"!! But they kept me in last night for observation and for more blood and urine tests.
This morning they said they found a trace of blood and infection in my urine, but not sufficient to cause any pain like I've been getting. But they decided to discharge me this afternoon on the condition that I get plenty of rest and if the pain gets so severe again I am to go straight back there. I've also got to go see my midwife in a week or so to have the blood and urine tests repeated.
I still have some pain, although no where near as bad as it was. But it's been a scary few days!!
