Ive been recommended not to use Johnson baby shampoo!

It's the PH level and that its an alkaline shampoo that makes it a drying . It's formulated to be 'no more tears' as in if it goes into the babies eyes , which is at almost the same ph level, it won't sting. So , good for the eyes, not so for hair!

Just got back from Tesco and bought the simples baby stuff for a £1

EDIT: I'm thinking of just using water now like I did when he was a few months old!

My doctor, midwife and sofia's pediatrician all advised against Johnson so I never used them. I also have a few friends complain of the smell and how drying it had been for their LO's.

We use Burts n Bees, Aveda and local organic products for Sofia.

I use most of Mustela's brand and love it. It's supposed to be free of all that bad stuff.

It's a bit pricey... But I figure I'll try to keep her away from exposure as long as possible and I know the bottle will last a long long time as you don't need much.

LO is already 17 weeks and we haven't even gone through a third of the bottles, and that's with bathing my niece too when she comes over to be watched and she gets pretty messy as she poops regularly, but is so active, she tends to get it every where if you try to change her diaper. Since she loves bath, we just wash her bottom right away.

Once a year investment....worth the bit extra. If you break it down, it'll only costs you.... What? Pennies more per bath.

And google their reviews!

Love it!

Yep I used to use Johnson's baby shampoo as a clarifying shampoo, it's harsh, and no more tears, my eye (pardon the pun), if that stuff gets in your eyes it stings like anything. When the boys are really small I just use water then when they are older I only use a tiny bit of pure olive oil soap-works a treat! Xx

I never used the johnsons shampoo but used the top to toe bath. I use it on the older ones as well and they have lovely skin. For Arya's hair now I just use what we use on our hair.

When my LO was born we only used water and olive oil and he had the most amazing soft skin and beautiful hair but when he was about 6 weeks old I stupidly started using Johnsons because it smelt nice and within a week his skin was all dry and sore looking. Stopped using and went back to olive oil and e45 because it had gotten so dry and it cleared straight up!

I used it a few times and every time it dried the crap out of the boys' hair.

I like the look of the aveeno products but I'm wondering if anyone knows if they're really ok? I'm a bit nervous of the fact they're made by johnsons x

We used Burt's Bees when LO was a newborn and I liked it, though I've recently found out that it's been bought out by Clorox so that makes me trust it less.

We're currently using Shea Moisture, which I love for the smell, and it makes LO's skin so soft. We use the lotion, too.

To the person asking about a good bubble bath wash, I like BabyGanics Foaming Fun bath wash/shampoo.

I hardly ever use shampoo on my lo. Maybe like once every 2 weeks. His hair doesnt lookd greasy and doesnt smell! Wish i could stop using shampoo too! Its not healthy for the hair

I never use johnsons but that's because of LO's discoid eczema, it irritates it and makes it flare up.

we don't use Johnson's as we try to buy cruelty free where ever possible. I sometimes use Tesco's own brand baby bath (Tesco and Sainsbury's don't test on animals) but try when ever possible to use earth baby products on Emilia. They are organic and cruelty free. They are a little expensive, but a little seems to go a long way.

i had also heard alot of bad things about J&J products and what's in them which is another reason why we don't use them.

So agree! I love Mustela! I bought a gift set of it when DS2 was newborn because J&J was irritating his skin since he has eczema. We STILL have the same set, and it'll last us a while. So even though I paid $50 for the gift set, has lotions, shampoo, body wash, diaper cream, etc. it is lasting us a really long time. Worth it .

I havn't used any johnsons things on my girls as I've heard so much bad stuff about them. We use Little Violets shampoo which has so far lasted ages

We used Johnsons at first and my lo broke out in a rash anytime we used it. Pretty sure Johnsons was recalled here after finding out about all the harmful ingredients. I will never buy it again. We use Aveeno. Its funny because we used Johnson with our son and had like NO hair but my daughter has a lot of hair and we don't use Johnsons anymore

I had sooo much J&J stuff! I was excited to have it too because I thought it would all last until he was like 2 years old. When I started using it, LO developed eczema and had bad rashes. Used it total for about a week, and switched to Earth Mama Angel Baby. Stuff is amazing and smells great.

I also use Burt's Bees and love it. Since his hair is getting on the thick side I use conditioner too, which is Honest brand (organic/cruelty free as well).

I gave all of my excess J&J stuff to my step-sister since she had loads of it on her baby registry. I had HUGE bulk bottles of most J&J stuff that took up an entire drawer. :haha:
