Hi 2bemum.
If baby is over 16 weeks try him on natural yogurt strawberry seems to be popular if you wish you can water it down slightly with formula milk and spoon feed that to him and see how he goes.
Heath visitors rely on 'TEXT BOOK' advice for 'TEXT BOOK ' baby's this is rubbish as no kid is a text book if they were they would come out the womb with a guardian in one hand and a copy of the financial times in the other and an oxford degree to boot!
While in the PRO breast camp I also know the benefits of FF and multi feeding.
for me as long as you have some weight gain that's good and just cause he don't fit a chart is not too major to worry about as long as hes bright eyed and interested in what he gets up to.
lol even at my supper fittest based on my BMI they said I was clinical y obese as i wasn't 5'4" and 9 1/2 stone i was about 13-13 & 1/2stone now i weigh 16 stone and due to pelvic and back problems prolonged exercise is a no no for the most part. when i was 13 1/2st it was silly as was training 6hours a day on the ice intensively and having 1-2hours of intense tuition as well so avrage week about 42 hours on ice as well as studying and working so was running about like crazy.
as the end of the day mama does know best we been coping for years without HV and relying on community grandmas/home taught midwifes, but this knowledge has for the most part been lost.
Many moons ago in the dark ages lol i was 12 years old and from then just by instinct I knew how to settle a baby. I also listened to my gran (miss her she passed over) and my MUM who i no longer talk to.
but i still wear a vest top and a cardi to visit babys so they can curl up on my chest, listen to my heart and zonk out. much to peoples surprise, had one baby do it who refused his dummy from me and dozed off - his mother said he depended on dummy for comfort, yet with me spat it out.
Instinct will prevail and honestly tell the HV as little as possible she seems like a stress manufacturer.
Best of luck
SG
