Hi I am new to Baby Bump So not quite sure how it works but hear goes...
Im about to start fertility injections, but was really shocked when my doctor told me if this fails i have to wait until im 30 for Ivf treatment!
And considering this is the next step for me if the fertility injections dont work i was really upset as thats 10 years away for me. I hope the injections work but they dont have a very high success rate. I am currently living in wiltshire but about 3 miles away in swindon you can recieve Ivf when your 23! So i googled and found out that the range of age was really shocking just down to your Postcode! So does anybody know the age range for ivf treatment from the nhs in the following places:- Slough Berkshire, Gulidford Surrey and Oxford Oxfordshire. Or if in your area the age is below 23 could you let me know. Thanks You.:flower:

I don't know sorry, but you could look up the PCT - Primary Care Trust in that area and look up on their website the ages for IVF? x

Trafford Pct only have an upper age limit. You have to be on the list before you're 35. It seems daft to have to wait so long because it is proven that you have a higher success rate the younger you are. Be careful about saving to go private though as sometimes this means you are not entitled to NHS help.

I suppose it also depends on your problems though. I was ttc for 4 years with unexplained but am now pregnant on my own. If I had been given IVF treatment when I obviously don't need it I could have taken that opportunity away from someone who really did need it iykwim. Easy for me to say now I'm preggy though I concede.

Good luck, I hope you get success without IVF :flower:

Hi Stacey-Jane

I've been put forward for IVF at the Oxford Fertility Unit and I live in Bracknell, and I was told that the ages for the East and West Berkshire PCT area has recently been changed from 35-39 to 30-34.

I know, it's so frustrating knowing that in other counties they get 3 tries on the NHS...you would think it would be the same across the entire UK.....

Carmen. xx

it is indeed a lottery. i am under a surrey hospital but my doc is in the hounslow pct. so i get one go on ivf.
if i was in the docs just down the road i would get two goes :grr:
not sure about age limits, google it though and there is a site that lists all the criterias. i just cant remember the name of it!

You have to be 30 where i live to... i never got my IVF as my Ex and i separated when i was 29..

My DH and i have just found out now i'm going through it all again that because he has 2 children from a previous relationship i'm not entitled to the 1 free NHS IVF treatment available here :(

I'm just praying other interventions will help and we don't have to go down that road!

xx
