IVF support thread

Hi Princess

When was it sent? I also had bit of a nightmare with my first appointment at hospital where would be having my ICSI treatment. Was referred in august 2009 and an appointment came through for early november. Unfortunately was when we were on holiday so had to cancel. Chased up a new appointment date 3 times and they kept assuring me I would be getting a letter. Then it was Christmas so first day back at work I rang again and they said my appointment was that day, actually exactly the time I was ringing (letter must have been lost in the post, grrrr) My hosp is an hout away so no way I could make it. Had to re-schedule again for Feb. Wasn't happy!!! So if it had all gone to plan would have waited 3 months between the initial referral and first appointment. As it happened it ended up being 6!!! IVF/ICSI and being impatient I have found do not mix!!!

Hi Lolly, well we were only refered in Dec last year, I know I am being impatient but the prof said he would send the referal straight away (the assisted conception clinic is part of the same building!) But the nurse I just spoke to said she needs to speak to my prof secretary as they havnt got the referal yet. I

I just want to get things moving I hate all this waiting! x x

if your having nhs treatment id keep chasing them hun its so easy to get lost in the system x

Thanks I'll bear that in mind! Are you having nhs treatment or private if you dont mind me asking? x

we were nhs for all the testing etc but private for our ivf x

Princess, if its part of same building you'd hope it'd be a bit easier!! Hopefully with a phonecall things will start moving along a bit quicker. Fingers crossed! The waiting is definately the worst bit, even with all the injections and feeling generally rubbish its better as at least you feel you are being proactive and working towards the end result. I'm playing waiting game now for round 2, starting in march, getting impatient!!

Hi everyone :flower:

I would love all you ladies that will be going through IVF/ICSI to read "the complete guide to IVF katie brian" I have read it page to page and have learnt so much about it and its very easy to understand and follow  i have done a lot of under lining :coffee: and the author herself has had IVF.

I'm waiting till MArch to get the exact date for when we can start our ICSI, the wAiting is killing me

Good luck to all you lovelies going through the process :hugs: wishing you all the best of luck, cant wait to see everyones BFP

Love and hugs xxx 2011 is our year xx

Hi Princess, I was referred back in August 2010 and met with the RE after my OBGYN said we tried for 6 months after my HSG in Feb '10. (I'm now 36). We met with the RE a few weeks later to go over options however my husband wanted us to try naturally until the end of 2010. So I had to wait a 5 extra months!!!!!! The wait practically killed me but at least we put a good effort in TTC naturally. Since we had no success, I started prepping myself at the end of December by taking the injection class that was required and let the RE know my AF was coming in the next few weeks. The nurse then started coordinating the schedule. As soon as AF hit on 12/31, I was already to go as soon as 2011 started. The process goes quickly once you start and plan the schedule/cycle. Good luck!!!

Just come off the phone to the nurse I spoke to yesterday and she has booked us in for our first appointment-10th Feb!! :happydance::happydance:

That's only 4 weeks away, I can't believe it thought we would be waiting abit longer! So really glad I rang yesterday, and I feel so happy now that things are finally starting to move forward! x

Great news princess!! Happy for you! So this is first appointment to go through paperwork, discuss process etc? Once that's outta the way the fun begins :flower:

Hi everyone else, hope all you lovely ladies are doing ok on this long but hopefully very very VERY worthwhile journey!

Hi Lolly, yep I think that's what it's for!? She just said medical consultation so I presume it's to discuss the process etc. Now we have been given a date I feel like it's the boost I needed if that makes sense!

Can I ask is it painful when they take your eggs? I've read that I'll be sedated but I'm so scared x

No not at all! They give you a sedative. I previously thought it was a general anesthetic so when she said sedative I was terrified I would be awake!! But heard/felt nothing until it was all over. When went home felt like AF type cramps and bit of bleeding but nothing more severe than period pains which lasted couple of days. Try not to worry, sure you will be fine!! xxxxxxx

that is what ive been worried about too that i wouldnt be completley knocked out x

great news on your appointment princess, i came home with tons of paperwork at my first one it made it all feel more real, so exciting x

Good morning/afternoon Ladies. I just started stims last night - Follistim and Menopur. My RE had set the time between 7-9PM but I had a dinner in San Francisco scheduled at 8PM and an hour drive there, so I injected at 6:30PM. I hate needles but for whatever reason just thought to myself, "I have no choice.. I'm doing this for a baby!" The process of injecting myself was definitely alot easier than I thought. Well, the couple we were meeting was one of my close friends that I haven't seen since November. She announced she's almost 4 months pregnant with a cute little baby bump. Happy for them. I thought about sharing my IVF news with her but decided not to. I really want to find some friends to tell but all are pregnant or just gave birth so I don't want to sound like the Debbie Downer... Anyway, I ended up have 3 alcoholic drinks last night drink while stimming? It wasn't my intent to drink but after I had the first glass of wine, I didn't really think about it. I wish I didn't though and will try not to in the next few weeks. Did any of you ladies drink while stimming? I have my first U/S and blood test next Tuesday.

I talked to my doctor last week to go over my first IVF. She said I have to take the Clomid test when I get my period in Feb. She's putting me on BC pills after that and IVF will most likely be in March.

Just passing through ladies. Hope you are all doing well. Had my betas this week, 9dp5dt was 228, 11dp5dt was 792... So I'm officially pregnant but cautiously optimistic! Wishing you all baby dust and a successful IVF cycle!
