Hello, everyone. I am new to the boards here. My husband and I have been TTC for 3 years. I had one ectopic last June and lost a tube. After a break (or less of a focus on trying!) we want to look into IVF. How do I find clinics in my area (West Midlands) that will offer services? My web searches have not been successful. I have been referred by my GP to a fertility specialist but want to consider what my options are if there is a private clinic available. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Try www.hfea.org.uk (I think) ... it's the human fertilisation and embryology authority website. All licensed clinics in the uk are listed here, and you can get information about success rates, treatment options, and inspection reports. Good luck

I suggest you make an appointment with a reproductive endocrinologist and discuss in depth what you've tried. IVF is the most invasive option and usually reserved for when other options have been exhausted or aren't feasible (for instance, my tubes are blocked, no way around the blockages other than IVF). The RE should run a series of tests on both of you (his is so easy it's not fair, just cum-in-a-cup, as it's jokingly called) to try to determine the cause of why you haven't successfully had a viable pregnancy. Unless you're Angelina Jolie, you're going to have a hard time finding a doctor who will jump right to IVF without trying any less-invasive methods first.
