I was posting about this on another thread then thought I'd ask and see what others think

One of our top names if baby is a girl is Ivy. Our children have a teenage cousin named Holly. OH seems to think this may be a cause for comment/teasing due to the song 'The Holly and the Ivy'. I see this as not an issue at all.

Also do you think Ivy is a wintery name? Because the baby is due in June. Cousin Holly has a Christmas birthday! Again this is another point by OH which I think is null :haha:

I think he prefers our other name which is Orla, but something is pulling me towards Ivy at the moment.

Baby will be a boy anyway and that's another story!!! :haha:

The Holly and Ivy thing I think is fine, siblings I would probably say no but I think it's fine with a cousin! I do see the connection but it wouldn't put me off using it.

I think Ivy is a lovely name, yes it is wintery but I wouldn't find it odd if someone called Ivy told me they were born in June!

Orla is also a beautiful name, I would love to use it but unfortunately my husband dislikes it :(

Since they're cousins and not siblings I think its fine, and actually pretty cute! I would totally use it with a summer baby :)

Not an issue since they're cousins not siblings, and also not even of similar ages.

I wouldn't think of it being only a winter name at all, I don't think flower/plant names should be limited to only babies born during their season. It's a lovely name :)

I think the fact there is such an age gap is a total non issue to me. Maybe if they were the same sort of age but I'd use it. Also I wouldn't even think of the time of year for the name Ivy :)

I've never heard of the song before so total non-issue for me!

I also don't think of it as a wintery name at all.
