My partner and i moved away from our home town. Because it was such a big move my husband had to quit working. We signed on about a month and a half ago.
We had to fill out various forms as to why he left his job voluntarily.

Today our jobseekers was stopped because they feel that a 70mile journey to work is adequate and he should have kept his job. By the time we worked out petrol for the month (£400) his wages wouldnt be worth living on.

They are now saying our job seekers will not be paid until August 2010.

:cry::cry::cry:

Im hoping to find work before then anyway, but i was wondering if i can do anything about it???

Our tax credits and child benefit doesnt go far between four of us

Mmmm i would ask them to review it hun..we moved 26 miles away and my hubby had to give up his job and they pay him..I think you have 28 days to appeal.In that time you should get as much evidence together...petrol reciepts etc to prove how much you are spending and whats coming in.xx

dont know if you have called them or not but tax credits are based on your income, so if you are bringing in less, you should get more :)

They should look at things like "why you had to move" and if this is a reasonable reason for leaving employment. Your husband can also apply for hardship payment whilst his JSA is suspended, less than the normal amount but better than nothing. And I think he can appeal against the decision giving more information/reasons.

We didnt HAVE to move but we wanted to accept a swap as it was moving to a better area. (from Croydon to Littlehampton)

I dont think tax credits would help as its only child tax and i thought that remained the same no matter what other money you have. But defo worth enquiring about.

My husband has to go back on Monday for a meeting with them. I guess he can do his appeal then. I just think its horrid they didnt tell us until we rang them to ask why the money wasnt in our account.

As if benefits isnt depressing enough, they have to degrade you more. They are so rude on the phone as if you like having to accept help from the government.

I hope this doesnt effect my housing benefit too :(
