Hi I have a 7 month old and my maternity pay is due to end pretty much now, The only benefits I can get it JSA im currently looking and applying for work that i can fit around LO. Where I live we dont have a proper bus service just the call connect buses that you have to book to be on. It would obv be difficult for me to get on a bus and travel 30 mins to my nearest job center with my LO. Is there anything else I can do like if I go to the job centre and speak to someone do you think they could help or do you think they would just tell me thats what i have to go? Help would be really appreciated

To claim JSA, you will have to demonstrate that you are searching for a job, so you would have to attend your meetings. 30mins isn't too bad, and its only once a fortnight, so you could book these in advance on the bus as you know when they would be.

If you need/want to claim then you have to fulfill your jobseeker's 'contract' as they call it. You have to attend once every 2 weeks for a short meeting, plus show evidence that you've been searching for jobs as you hve promised to do - online, papers etc etc as you laid out in your initial signing on interview.

There's no distance way of doing it as far as I'm aware I'm afraid.

If you are a single parent, you should be entitled to Income Support as that's what I was on when I had my first baby.

If you have a partner and they are out of work, you will most probably be entitled to Income-Based Jobseeker's Allowance where your partner will have to sign on and you do not.
