i was bottle fed for 12 weeks then straight onto solids :haha:

pointless thread sorry it just made me laugh! imagine my mum was on bnb lmao!!

my baby is 13 weeks and i cant even imagine feeding her solids its a challange to get a couple mils of calpol in her :haha:

its funny how that was the norm back then. it makes me realise why the older generation look at me like i am mad when i say i am planning on waiting until 6 months to introduce solids.

luckily i have no allergies but i am entitled to blame my weight on it right??? *she says walking to the fridge to stuff face...* :haha:

anyone else know when they were weaned?

Wow, that's crazy! You were totally weaned at 12 weeks, as in no more milk or formula at all?

I think I was started on solids at 4 months but not actually weaned off of nursing until 8-10 months.

im sure i still had some milk its hard to gather, im reading a baby chart i found that my mum filled in when i was little (shes no longer with us). by the 'started solids' shes written 12 weeks and by 'mils of formula per day' theres a - were as she had presviously written the number! i cant imagine i wasnt having any though!

so who knows as i cant ask!

oh wow! I need to find out when I was weaned, that's very interesting!

My mom started me and my brothers on baby rice cereal at 8 weeks!! and she was bfing us. She said that's what the they were all told to do back then. How they all got cereal past the baby's tounge trust I have NO clue. My mom only fed it to us from a spoon, but she said that a LOT of people put the cereal in a bottle :dohh:

I was weaned at 8 weeks. I was also given a rusk in a bottle at 3 days old to help me sleep... Apparently my mum had to cut the tip of the bottle as it was so thick!

FTR, rather unsurprisingly I have allergies and major digestive issues.

I was formula-fed as my Mum's milk supply had ceased due to treatment for Mastitis two weeks after I was born. I was given purées when I was four months old. Not sure when I was weaned off formula though.

My neighbor (now 70 years old) fed her baby rice cereal from day ONE of life in a bottle of formula at the hospital!!!!! :saywhat:

Yep my brother, sister and myself all had cereal in our bottles by the time we were 12 weeks  Apparently it was just the done thing in the 70's when we were all born.

me and my brother were both given rusk in a bottle everynight to make us sleep according to my dad. i know people who do that now because of listening to the older generation. my dad couldnt understand why it was wrong :haha:

I was started on solids at 10 weeks. My LO is 10 weeks and I couldn't imagine giving her anything other than breast milk right now. I'm pretty sure I remember oh's parents saying they were giving him and his brother eggs by around 8 weeks because they were "hungry"

Scary some of the things that were the 'done thing' back then.

It's amazing we made it out alive! I wonder what our children will say is old fashioned and dangerous? Bet it's our beloved jumperoo

That's crazy! I wonder what my mom did exactly, I know I was on apple juice from a very early age. :haha: I was nursed for 6 months though, so I at least had milk that long!

I have a photo of me about 12 weeks old covered in chocolate eating a kitkat!!!!

When my eldest son was born (he's 23) the guidelines were to introduce solids at 12 weeks or 12lbs which ever came first!!!

When my DH was born the hospital used to have a special bottle prepared for him with his name on it as it had farex in it (baby cereal), he was classed as a big baby and so would need extra in his bottle to stop him being hungry!

So I've had one baby who had solids introduced at 12 weeks, my other two boys were 4 months (as per guidelines) and with my 8 month little girl we started BLW at 6 months and I much prefer the BLW at 6 months. Its an absolute pleasure to watch her eat, enjoy food and have fun with food.

Just got my baby book out and I'm pretty surprised! First cereal at 6 months. I was weaned onto Vit. D whole milk at 8 months though (?). Sounds interesting. :p

I was weaned relatively 'late'- I was 9 months by the time my mum stopped 'full time' breastfeeding and went to just 1 or 2 feeds a day. My brother had digestive problems- some sort of CMPI/A that was never fully diagnosed. So my mum was advised to wait to wean me, I think it was still early by today's standards though, as my mum's surprised I want to wait till 6 months to introduce any solids- to my mum and dad things like rusks don't seem to count as solids!

My pediatrician had my mom give me honey and water. >_<
