Hi all - I couldn't find a new members thread so hope no-one minds me starting a thread of my own....

I've been reading some of the topics this morning, very much happier now than yesterday with all the comments and advice I've read.

DH and I are just at the very beginning of trying to find out why we haven't managed to conceive in 4 years of being together. Last month, three younger relatives of ours had babies and another is expecting. That pushed me over the edge. My cycle has always been weird and getting into the sixth week without AF showing up, taking a test and getting a negative, then AF showing up the next day can really mess with your head.

So I bit the bullet and went to the Drs. Cue blood tests for me and other tests for him. We haven't been able to do his yet, 1 hour to get sample produced and to the lab 40 miles away is not going to be easy and he's embarrassed to ask for time off work to go in and do it....

Anyway, to cut a long story short, my tests were fine, and the dr has now referred us to the fertility clinic. So I'd appreciate any advice, comments, tales anyone might have about this process, as I have no idea what to expect.

Oh by the way, I'm 36 in February and DH is 48.

Thanks :)

Hi Ayjay and welcome! I think you'll find this a super supportive community of women.

I know all about the late AF, BFN, and then AF coming the next day. It's such an emotional roller coaster!

I'm 36, hubs is 43. We're ttc #1 for 13 months. I've always had erratic periods and don't think I always O. I started seeing a specialist in July and she's still a bit puzzled as to my issues. I just did a tracking cycle (wow, that was super emotional, getting blood drawn sometimes every other day and worrying about numbers all day long, etc. etc). I'll see her tomorrow to go over it all.

Otherwise I've been doing acupuncture and totally recommend it! It gave me the strongest O I've had in a year last month (but was out of town so no BD -- what awful timing!). I also take vitex and EPO before O and wild yam progesterone cream after O. There are other supplements and diet stuff, too.

Well, have a look through some threads and/or post questions when you have them. Chances are you'll find someone who can help.

thanks phrumkidost, it does seem a friendly site.

I have just been on a health food shop's website and ordered some Evening Primrose Oil (I presume thats what EPO is), Agnus Castus and Folic Acid. Just to prove to myself that I'm serious about this ttc stuff!

I saw a shooting star on Saturday night, walking home from work, guess what I wished for :).

Yes, Ayjay, EPO is Evening Primrose Oil. I hope it all works out for you! What day of your cycle are you in? And, do you track (I started using Fertility Friend and love it!)? And, when's the appointment with your FS?

Lots of questions, sorry! :)

I'm in cd4 (AF popped up right on time for a change). I did used to use a bbt and track my cm, but that was stressing me out more so i stopped. I think I'll invest in a opk, see if that suits me better. No idea about appointment yet, dr has just sent the referral letter last week.

We're on similar days, then. I'm CD 2, after a previous 37 day cycle. It was long, but at least I know I Oed and had a 14 day luteal phase.

Well, keep me posted with the FS and how things work for you in general. Hope you don't have to be ttc much longer!

Hi Ayjay. Welcome to the site.

You can always pop into the ltttc thread on this board too. There's always infertility chatter going on in there. If we can't figure out what the issue is, at least we can commiserate. :hugs: It's nice sometimes to talk with those that know it's not always so easy to conceive.

thanks readyformore, I've been browsing the threads all day just about :). Picked up some tips etc.
