Hi all you breastfeeding ladies.............

I wanted to know what all you ladies felt about these nipple creams......

Six years ago i was recommended Kamillosan nipple cream to protect and moisturise my nipples and after using it throughout breastfeeding my son i rate it very highly, never had any cracked nipples and would recommend it to anyone who is intending to breastfeed.

It has come to my attention however that Lansinoh seems very popular and is mentioned alot on here and i wanted to know if it is better than Kamillosan or just as good an alternative..........

THANK YOU TO ALL THAT REPLY!!!!!!

Lots of love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

have tried both and i vote lansinoh without a doubt! plus you can get it free on prescription

free on prescription????

WHOA i have been paying £10 for it!!!!

for me kamillosan was 100 times better and works ace on nappy rash too

Out of curiosity, what did you find was different/better??

xxxxxx

i found the lansinoh went on better, smelt better, plus its safe for LO to consume so i could put it on immediately before feeding which meant when she latched it didn't reopen my wounds!

Lansinoh for me. I got Kamillosan on prescription once as the stupid nurse insisted my thrush of the nipples was bad latch or allergy to Lansinoh (so she gave me Kamillosan which also has lanolin in it, dozy woman!) I hated the smell of Kamillosan, although I found it easier to spread on than Lansinoh. I've bought it both times I got it (got through LOADS in the first couple of weeks) but still have loads left now, 5 months on... my GPs hate to give away ANYTHING on prescription and I couldn't be bothered trying.

Top tip : keep Lansinoh in the airing cupbaord so it stays softer and is easier to apply.

Both stain like anything so be careful... we have a Lansinoh patch on our sofa cushion... oops.

Oh yes, and you don't have to wipe off the Lansinoh either...

to make the lansinoh spread easy i found i just needed to roll a blob between my thumb andfinger to warm it a little :)

That works too but it was taking me minutes to get it out the tube in the first place! Unscrewing the lid helped with that too.

So it would seem that Lansinoh does have the majority vote then.........

Hmmmmmm......

I might buy both just to see which i prefer, as i did really get on with Kamillosan.. I did think that kamillosan was safe for baby to consume though..... is that not the case??

lots of love thanks for your input xxxxxxxxxxx

It doesnt smell like it would be safe for them to consume?
x

i'm not 100% on that but i wouldn't say it is...it has too much added to it whereas lansinoh is pure lanolin

if you go to your local BFing support group (usually at your local childrens centre) they tend to have free sample sachets of lansinoh that you can get to try out, then if you want more as i said in previous post don't buy it and get it from GP on prescription instead :)
