By their account, Kate discovered Madeleine missing, window open, shutters up, searched 5A for Madeleine and went back to Tapas restaurant where she raised the alarm. The rest of the group with the exception of Diane Webster but including Gerry ran/walked to 5A with Kate. Gerry says he closed the window and shutter because it was cold and the twins were in the room. Where does Amy enter the scene: did Kate inform Amy and others of Madeleine's disappearance and give them access to 5A before she went to Tapas to sound the alarm? That's the only way Amy could have been inside 5A and noticed the window and shutter open...as there is no mention by any of the Tapas 9 of Amy being part of the group that returned to 5A with Kate. (I hope I've put my point across clearly.)

So...Kate discovered her daughter was missing..then left the twins alone to go get help? Is it just me that can imagine myself waking up the twins asking where Maddie had gone? Screaming, shouting and crying so loud for Maddie that even if I hadn't intened for the twins to wake up, I would have done? Then taking them to go and get help, bot risking loosing them too???

Anyone watched the mccanns interview on sky anytime? I just watched it, they are appealing to david cameron to reopen the case.

I'm just a little confused about something. The interviewer asked about a section in the book where kate writes that maddy said on the morning of the night she disappeared 'why did you not come when I cried?' She says that probaby the intruder tried to break in that night, and something about maddys sister crying too, and gerry talks about them both settling after an hour or something but 'that doesn't ever happen'. What would they mean by that? They kept going on about it but I just couldn't really make sense of the point they were trying to make.

I will not be getting this book.

I think it is awful what they did, at the end of the day it is THEIR fault that Madeline went missing and she is the one who has had to suffer in whatever way she has. Who in their right minds leaves their children alone, at the age that they were.

I can only wish that she was taken by people who wanted to look after her and she is having nice life. But I don't think we will ever find out what happened to her.

This bothered me too - why mention something which makes you look even worse?

Then someone suggested it was because they knew the woman who heard the children crying was likely to make this public, & I guess they didn't want to seem like they'd been hiding something. However....they still could have lied & said she was lying so I'm still not 100% on that.

By Gerry saying it was out of character is a ploy in my eyes to make people believe there must be some cause for them to way, ie, disturbance from the 'abductor' the night before.

I was lying in bed last night wondering about the window/shutters thing. Are the McCanns suggesting the abductor entered & left through the window? If so, surely the lack of signs of a break in on the suggests suggests this didn't happen? In which case, we have to assume the person entered through an open door. In which case, they'd have left that way too. So.....the fact the shutters were 'supposidely' open & the window was open (yet several of the McCanns friends failing to notice whilst walking past) is obviously just what the McCanns said to they didn't have to admit they had left the doors unlocked. Why was it they finally admitted they had done this, was it because of how impossible it would be for someone to get in/out through the shutters?

Yea, it was apparently impossible to get out of the window whilst carrying a child, and even if the abductor had, they certainly would have left some sort of fibres from their clothing on the window shutters/frame. Unless they had an accomplice to help them out of the window so wouldn't touch anything. However the friend who saw a man carrying a child that night never said they saw more than one person, so it surely would have only been the one abductor taking her out of the window. Which doesn't make sense as there was nothing found apart from kates finger prints in window area. In which case the abductor could only have gone out through the front, which would have been the way they would have also gotten in. So that surely would tell us that the front door had in fact been left unlocked?! Now that's good parenting.

"I asked Gerry apprehensively if he'd had any really horrible thoughts or visions of Madeleine. He nodded. Haltingly, I told him about the awful pictures that scrolled through my head of her perfect little genitals torn apart"

Can someone with the book confirm this?.....can't even comment yet because I can't believe she wrote that....

I *think* that once all the forensics were completed they closed the shutters to stop prying eyes and unauthorised pics being taken of the room

wtf I am so sick of the smount of ppl on fb putting status that they are reading the book and how heartbreaking it is for poor gerry and Kate.....argh!

i so hope that if they did have something to do with Maddies disappearance that this book and re opening of the case is what brings them down....maybe they got to cocky thinking they got away with it.

If they didnt have anything to do with it then i hope maddie is found with a family who have been looking after her.

Clement Freud is co-owner of a house on a hill on the outskirts of Praia da Luz. Kate said she dreamed that Madeleine was buried on a hill. The principal owner of this property is a Phillip Wright whom, according to phone records, Mr. McCann contacted twice in July and twice in September of 2007.

According to what is written in this blog, a George Brooks while driving near this location on May 4, 2007, saw a couple carrying a child that took off to the next side-road.

If that is the case then surely it would have been an accident, I mean they wouldn't knowingly leave the door unlocked?! Did kate ever specify that upon realising that the door was unlocked that was her first indication that something was wrong, or was it only when she went into the bedroom to find that maddy wasn't there?? Because if you find your hotel room door unlocked wouldn't that be the very first point where you start to shit yourself that something has happened??

Consdering their excuse for showing no emotion was that they didn't want to let her 'abductor' get a kick out of it.....you then write that bullsh*t, knowing a) it's your child - why would you want to put that thought into the minds of every person reading it & b) paedophiles DO get kicks out of stuff like that!
