I didn't mean too late to find her, either way, just that I find it a bit strange to be examining the area close to where she disappeared for possible burial sites a whole 5 years after she went missing

Well, I guess they cant go turning up land with no leads now that have one, they have to follow it up? It might come to nothing, but imagine if they didnt look in to it and it was remains?

It is someone who have paid for this privately, not the police or anyone so it was him getting the money for the scanner and stuff. I guess the police just didnt know where to look, she could of been any where (alive or dead) so they couldnt just go digging up loads of places in the hope of finding her, cos of the huge costs.

I just think that the surrounding areas should have been thoroughly searched at the time, any sign of newly turned up ground would have been much easier for them to spot surely

I don't know, there was a woman murdered in Dundee andir took the police a couple of weeks to find her body, on the main ring road round the city centre, immediately across the road from whe the last sighting of her alive had been

I guess I just don't understand the wait

I really hope the portuguese authorities look into this. The man who has concluded might end up being completely wrong but I think it deserves some attention.

I'm on my phone so I can't link news but Kate Mccann has been made an ambassador for the charity missing people. So far there is an outrage when charity givers are now refusing to give as they have appointed a woman who thought it ok to leave three young children alone in an unlocked apartment.

The Mccanns drive me mad, they never comment! Even when interviewed by the Portuguese police they wouldn't bloody comment! As someone else said, if they truely believe little Maddie is still alive why aren't they out there making sure this ''burial'' site is being looked into? Grrr!

I would be outraged too if that was a charity I supported.

What is she going to do? Help them go missing.. that seems to be her speciality.

I completely agree. Charities need the donations and if there is considerably less then the charity might not proceed with its work. But the again I'm assuming people are refusing out of principle which they are within their rights to.

I wont say my view on this, as i despise the mcanns and it infuriates me hearing there names !! I just hope that the little girl is found one day and the truth comes out!!! But i wouldnt trust the mcanns with a barge pole.

I agree its like leaving your children at home while you pop to the cafe and get a bite to eat you wouldnt do it here so why do it in a FOREIGN COUNTRY!!! obviously its sad and I feel sorry for the little girl whatever happend to her but it was completely preventable it still annoys me that they got to keep the other two children anyone else would have had them taken away as soon as they got off the plane.

Can I just say something.

If a 18 year old mother left her two children asleep in a council house while she popped out to her friends flat (even if it was next door) she would be arrested and no doubt her children taken away from her.

Yet, these two parents- middle aged, professionals. And NOTHING?

Oh and I will openly say it.......yes I think they are responsible. They have either sold her to some sort of sex slave industry or to a couple wanting a child (she is blonde, very pretty little girl so probably worth a lot of money- I feel sick saying that!) or they killed her.

It might of been an accident but there are a lot of holes and things that they did that don't add up

Made me laugh when she said there was no credibility to the claims the man with the scanner found a void- theres no credibility to her abduction story! Honestly, I think a part of her wants to be caught I really do.
