Took me a few days to read through all of this thread and the links attached. I've always thought they had more to do with this than meets the eye. Totally agree that Gerry seems very controlling.
From the things I've read it's left me puzzling a few things - like when reading the link about the apartment not being sold it says you have to declare all owners - well surey as the McCanns didn't own it then why declare them? Someone called McCann owns it but 'allegedly' she has nothing to do with them.
Also I really think this was foreplanned in some way. I think for whatever reason they wanted rid of Madeleine, maybe they couldn't control her and wanted to just have the twins and knew anything they did in the UK would be investigated much more thoroughly...might be wrong but it's one of the possibilities in my mind.
I read Kate's book thinking maybe she might be able to convince me they were innocent but didn't, quite the opposite in fact. All I got from her book is that they are both selfish narcissistic people.
I just can't understand why anyone would go on holidays with their 3 kids and then spend hardly any of the time with them - the poor kids were in creches all day, quick high tea and maybe an hour or so with parents then put to bed and left alone - why not leave them at home with their grandparents?
They said they didn't eat out with the kids as the restaurnt was pretty far and they had no buggy with them - surely any parent with any common sense with 3 small kids would have buggy as top of their list to bring?? I'd bring a buggy just for JJ and have him eat out with me in the evening then put him to bed and I and whoever I was with could have a few drinks on the balcony close by - why couldn't they have done that (if of course their version of events is true!) Also read that after Madeleine's 'disappearance' Mark Warner loaned them a double buggy for the twins - so if it was available why not get it from the start? Or buy one in the town? It all stinks.
The viewings of the man carrying a child - how come the police dismissed other viewings saying it was 'too dark' but accepted Jane Liar Tanner's viewing even though it would have been as dark then?? Because the other one's too closely resembled Gerry perhaps?
The thing about Kate's clothes having the 'scent of death' because she dealt with 6 corpses in work? That is just ludicrous!! Firstly she'd have to have dealt with them all the same day to have the scent on that one outfit - unless she wears one outfit for the week which I highly doubt. Also who brings their work clothes on holidays - most people buy new 'holiday clothes' going and I'm sure someone of Kate and Gerry's means could have afforded whole new holiday wardrobes.
Who is the senior politician who was on holidays with them and left abruptly when Maddy disappeared? I think this holds the key to a lot of the coverup - he/she would have helped them get everything covered up so quickly, probably to keep their own name out of the scandal. Gordon Brown getting involved, Clarence Mitchell etc - it's friends in high places that gets you that.
I think it is just unbelievable that the police can't see any of this, it's so obvious to all of us so must be even more so to them. What hold does Gerry have over this person or over whoever that he can get all of this just swept under the carpet?
