Lots of my friends are Nanny's (I am trained in childcare) and most of their contracts say that will go on one family holiday a year but the others will be when their annual leave is. I guess they figured that they had childcare sorted whilst there (for little cost), so the Nanny could have her annual leave, otherwise they have to give her annual leave at some other point in the year.

I guess so but they obviously had no intentions of caring for their children. If they cared so much about them, it wouldn't matter surely? Or surely they would get a temp?

I got thinking if they where willing to neglect them in this way, leaving them alone. And to be honest if they had of lived in some council estate somewhere they would have had the rest the kids taken away. What else where they neglecting? I dont think that was just some one off incident. They are two professional people. two doctors of all, docs wouldnt ever advice children to be left alone.

I work as a nanny and do not go on holidays with my employers (although I have in the past but would not anymore)
My employers are very good friends with the McCanns and saw them just a few days before the holiday,they obviously do not think they are guilty.
Im unsure what I think about what happened to poor Maddie, I just keep thinking of the jonbenet ramsey case where everyone was convinced the family had done it, at least they had a body in that case, which is still unsolved.

also in regards to neglect, the laws in portugal are different to those in the UK, and since the offence took place outside of the UK im not sure how much can be done to charge them.

believe me most people who can afford to bring a nanny with them on holiday do not think of a family holiday the same way you and i do. I have worked for a family who were REALLY ANGRY that I had to go away to a family wedding overseas just at the time the father was due to take his holiday time, as he really needed a holiday and they really needed me to come to their holiday home! in my mind this would be a perfect time for the nanny to take her holiday as both parents would be around to care for the children and they would not have to pay for someone to mind the children for 2 weeks.

Although it happened in Portugal so nothing could of been done legally in the UK I dont think, social services could of stepped in and taken the children because it works weird and the children just have to be at risk of something happening before SS can step in. I think them leaving them alone, proves they are at risk, so like I said they could of stepped in and probably would of under different circumstances.

I read that someone else was paying for that, but it was never said who.

Also I find that the richer you are, that in general the more frugal you are.

After that they where offered a team which they didnt have to pay for to. But there is a question marl on why this team where on route and who paid for them. Seems odd when your child is missing to get a top legal team to the total of 40k or something right away.

Because people read the newspapers who say things like they are no longer suspects/they are innocent/they are wonderful parents/that it is normal to leave your children unattended etc etc and they just blindly agree with the paper.

It happens a lot in society I feel, newspapers tell people what to think and its almost as if they think the papers wrote it so it must be true, no research or anything. Strange to me

I do remember vaguely they tried to stop that book being released with all the details in it? was that the book that the copy is of online? see if stuff like that was made up like their fans think they would have grounds for slander, but its all still there, years later. Well known facts. I think people fall for their tears, as you would. Any one would feel the pain of parents loosing a child. so they hit their stuff out there all the time, drowning out the bad stuff . Its almost like they are trying to prove they didnt do it or make sure they always look innocent. Plenty of others have lost children and none of them got the media attention they did.

I have never spoken to anyone who doesnt think they are in the wrong. I rememeber when Madeline first went missing my dad saying how something was iffy.

I guess its all conjecture and alot of people think "poor mcanns" so dont ask too many questions

I think that is partly cos of their backkgrounds though. Sadly, it seems the media thinks a child to doctors is some how worse than a single mum/a working class family and the like.

I think they are quite frugal - something Kate said in the book about the little outfit Madeleine had on that last day. The peach top and skirt I think. She was on about getting them from Monsoon and H&M 'which is quite extravagant but knew she'd look cute in them' or words to that effect. Then to read that she was on something like 4k a month to me would not make Monsoon 'extravagant' as such.

Yeah, that is what I thought, all of the well off people I know are the same.
