hi ladies :flower:
well we had a name picked out for a little girl for ages, and then we found out we are having a little girl, much to our suprise, and we were telling my parents the name we picked out :Holly Maddison Skylah (last name Adams) and we both LOVE this name , and my mum started going on about breaking tradition and i asked what she meant and then she explained that ALL first born girls in the family have the middle name Gwendoline :dohh: i didnt even think when we were picking names as im not first born so dont have that middle name, and now im really upset .
Is it too much to maybe hyphenate her name to Holly Maddison Skylah-Gwen ????

it does sound rather a mouthful!

I actually think Holly Gwendoline Adams sounds really beautiful!!

Or Holly Gwendoline Skylar Adams ? that sounds pretty too!

I just think Maddison makes it really long and makes the name such a mouthful (and I guess I'm really not a fan either so I dont' think it sounds pretty :flower:)

I really don't like the Skylar-Gwen idea though... and I think that if you are going to follow tradition then put the name in full or not at all - just my opinion :flower:

good luck!

I think Im going to have the same problem if I have a girl, as all the oldest have Lyndon as a middle name, but the names I like dont really go with it, so I might either have two middle names, not use it at all or hope for a boy!

I actually prefer Holly Gwendoline... very beautiful.

The other is a nice name too. I do feel that using all of them makes the name a bit too long.

:( argh this is hard :( i dont like the name gwendoline at all, i much prefer gwen (my mum was the one that suggested gwen instead). but both my husband and i really do love her name as it is, and all those names are very significant to us in one way or another.
this is really difficult :nope:

Hmm... do you happen to have any sisters or brothers who may carry on the tradition with their children? That way you could have an "out" and go with your original name and let the tradition carry on in time with their children?

i do have a sister , who has gwendoline as a middle name, but the tradition is first born girl in the family :( so it wouldnt really be keeping the tradition if she did it instead of me. and shes many years away from having children aswell lol

I think my opinion in this is really influenced by the fact I don't like Maddison or Skylah, sorry, but I do think Holly Gwendoline Adams is GORGEOUS. Or even Holly Gwendoline Skylah Adams. I think family traditions are really special and important, and your little girl one day will appreciate you keeping it up. :)

Also, Holly and Maddison are both beautiful names, together reminds me of Holly Madison from the girls next door, the tv show...if you've seen it. lol!

I like the name. I don't think it is too long. I have 2 really long middle names, and actually like it

thankyou everyone :flower:
ive talked to my partner and he doesnt want to change the names we already had picked out as they do have some sentimental value, but we will also include gwen :flower:

I'm not sold on the name Gwendoline. All I can say hun is that if you don't like the name then you aren't obliged to use it. She's your bubba after all :) You and Johno should call her what you want to call her.
