Kegels making leaks worse?

This might sound strange but I've noticed with this pregnancy that I'm starting to have issues with leaks when sneezing or coughing, but it's only on the days that I remember to do my kegels... I forgot to do them for 2 days in a row and had no issues, and then once I remembered to start doing them again the leaking started again. Anyone else have this? Maybe I'm tiring the muscles out and therefore they're not as strong??? Oh the joys!!!!! :haha:
 
Im not sure - I know kegels are excellent and for me they seem to work immediately. I havent done them in a long time though. The random leaks I believe are just a joy of pregnancy which is normal. :D honestly this happens to me more than I would like to admit. and I'm doing my kegels now- thanks for reminding me ;) LOL (as a suggestion) You can practice your kegels while you go to the bathroom. Maybe that will help you. pee- stop and hold pee-stop and hold. Now those I do randomly you can test your muscle strength too by your hold. I thought that was cool when i heard that!!!
 
Hi there :)

I think it's very easy to use the wrong muscles when doing kegals. I know I was. I found the hab-it system (Tasha Mulligan) worked best and even my OB noticed a difference (tmi lol). There a number of free videos which show how to do a basic kegal so you don't have to buy the DVD or anything like that. If you look on the right side of the homepage she actually has a free pdf of exercises for pregnant women.

Should be easy to find if you google it, not sure if I'm allowed to post links on the board.

It's not a good idea to practice kegels while peeing as it can cause an infection! Maybe try it once to make sure you are using the right muscles but then stop!
